In this week's class offerings we move into Rajas, the quality of energy, passion, and motion.

Rajas fuels our drive and creativity—but too much can lead to restlessness or burnout.

Our practice this week invites us to channel energy with intention, balancing effort with ease, movement with stillness, and action with awareness.

Let’s learn to move from energy rather than be moved by it.

How Tamas Shows Up in Daily Life

Tamas is the energy of inertia — the heavy, dull, or resistant quality that can make us feel stuck.
It shows up in everyday life as procrastination, fatigue, overindulgence, or that sense of “can’t be bothered.” We all experience it at times — it’s part of being human.

But when tamas lingers, it can cloud our clarity and drain our vitality.

Yoga offers a beautiful way to balance this energy. Through mindful movement, breath, and meditation, we awaken prana — our inner life force. A regular practice invites lightness, motivation, and clarity back into our day.

Start small. Unroll your mat. Take one conscious breath.
Each moment of awareness shifts the weight of tamas into the flow of balance and renewal.

Over the next three weeks, we’ll be exploring the Gunas—the three qualities that shape our mind, body, and energy: Sattva, Rajas, and Tamas.

This week, our focus is on Tamas, the quality of stillness, heaviness, and inertia.

Tamas can help us rest and ground, yet when it lingers, it can leave us feeling stuck, unmotivated or dull.

Through mindful movement and breath, we’ll gently awaken light and energy from within, honouring rest and stillness while inviting clarity and flow.

Hello my name is Angelique Pratten and I’d love to share with you my passion.

My passion is yoga.

Peace it Together was born from my deep desire to share the many benefits of the ancient practices of yoga and to teach others how to apply these techniques in a practical way to successfully navigate our busy, modern world.

The science of yoga provides a number of techniques to bring us back to centre, to find our place of peace and gain a sense of equanimity. These practices include yoga asana (physical postures), meditation (dhyana), breath work (pranayama) and Kirtan (devotional chanting).
