🎨 Doug's Dogs is our new art exhibition, featuring artworks created by art therapy client Doug Apthorpe 🎨
Doug takes in dogs that are unwanted and abandoned, and tries to give them the life they deserve - and the life he himself was never given. His exhibition features three of these dogs - Oreo, Mr Rex and Lady Girl.
Doug would also like you to add to his exhibition! We have an art response wall where you can put your beloved pets up alongside Doug's dogs. If you have, or had, a pet or animal in your life that brings you joy and comfort, we invite you to add them to Doug's menagerie!
You may want to make an artwork like Doug has, write a few words, compose a song, or just print out a photo. You can create a tribute to a pet that has passed away, or one that is with you now. Pets are a huge part of our lives and our families, and mean a lot to us. Please show us your treasured pet!
🐶 Doug's Dogs will be on display in our foyer for the next month. You can drop in any time Monday-Friday 9am-5pm if you’d like to have a look! 🐶
IMAGE DESCRIPTION 🖼️
Three framed artworks suspended on a pale blue wall. The artworks all show a different dog - L-R Oreo (a black and white dog with a short snout and upright ears that flop a little at the tips), Mr Rex (a brown and white Jack Russell, painted with the dates 2005-2020 at the bottom), and Lady Girl (a gingery brown and white dog with a long snout and pointed ears, wearing a pink coat). A wooden sign under Mr Rex says "Doug's Dogs" in orange handpainted letters with a blue background and black outline. Doug (a man with long brown-grey hair, moustache and beard, a black shirt and khaki shorts) sits on a bright blue bench in front of the paintings, resting his hands on his cane and smiling.
