Closure of Practice.

Please note from 30.06.2016 Psych Fit Health will no longer provide direct clinical services from The Oaks Office or it’s community based clinics.

Matthew has worked in private practice in the Macarthur local community since 2010 and will continue to work in his role as a nurse practitioner within the Macarthur region in a different role from that point forward.

Matthew will discuss this further with you when you next meet. Plans will be put in place so that all existing and past consumers will continue to have access to mental health support ongoing.

I would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all consumer’s, carers, family, friends and loved ones of the people I those I have worked with for their support during the last 6 years.

The importance of those around the person living with mental illness in terms of support, monitoring, care, love, friendship and guidance along the path of recovery can never be over emphasised or acknowledged enough– thankyou!

Sincerely,

Matthew

Support Needed!!

Enhanced Nurse Clinics
Nurses leading best practice in primary health care

The Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA) has been funded by the Commonwealth Department to work with service providers to develop original models of clinical care delivered by nurses in primary health care settings.

A maximum of ten sites will be selected Australia-wide to establish nurse clinics – in metropolitan, rural and remote locations – based on local population health needs.

It is anticipated these Enhanced Nurse Clinics will provide innovative models of care, led by primary health care nurses, and which have application to similar settings across Australia.

7 sites across Australia will receive funding for 2 years to deliver an enhanced nurse clinic, I am intending to apply for this funding however I became aware of the funding yesterday and applications close this Friday.

This is a great opportunity for mental health consumers and our community broadly. It is a chance to showcase an effective, efficient, new , innovative and replicable healthcare model delivered in the community.

I need to attach the following - ‘Letters of support from external parties demonstrating their involvement and commitment to the project will enhance your application’.

Could I please ask that services / organisations familiar with myself and business consider providing us with a letter of support for our application. Below is a draft template that services can cut and paste onto their letterhead to make the process easier.

……. (organisation / service name) currently work with and support Psych Fit Health in their delivery of services to people living with mental illness. We are in support of Psych Fit Health’s application to be funded as an Enhanced Nurse Clinic if successful in its application. As an organisation / service also working with people living with mental illness or offering service to this population we are able to support Psych Fit Health through referral of mental health service consumers where appropriate and working to achieve improved metabolic health in those living with mental illness.

Please return any letters of support back to me via e-mail (admin@psychfithealth.com.au) / fax (0288340731) by COB tomorrow. Apologies for the short time frame!!

Sincerely thank you for your consideration.

The Australian Government has introduced arrangements to allow
nurse practitioners to provide health services under Medicare and write prescriptions for certain subsidised medicines under the Pharmaceutical Benefits Scheme (PBS).

This means that nurse practitioners will be working in collaboration with medical practitioners to provide safe, high quality Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) services and PBS prescriptions.

Nurse practitioners are highly qualified registered nurses that have undertakenadditional education and training.

What services can a nurse practitioner provide?

Typical services that a nurse practitioner will be able to offer under the MBS include:

• taking your medical history;
• undertaking a clinical examination;
• arranging any necessary tests or investigation;
• implementing a plan to manage your health care; and
• providing appropriate preventative health care.

Nurse practitioners can provide these services in a range of settings including your home, a health clinic, medical practice, an
aged care facility, or the nurse practitioner’s private consulting rooms.

This initiative is particularly useful for people who have difficulty getting to see a GP or do not have a regular GP.
