Happy and grateful to be part of this team….

On this day, 45 years ago, Dru was born. A small group of friends at Bangor University decided to dedicate their lives to transforming the world through yoga, meditation and spirituality. Over the years that work has evolved, from peace walks, trauma healing in war zones and working with people in our yoga conferences and healing coursesin the early days. Today we focus on helping people achieve health and transformation on all levels, through the many courses, sanghas, retreats and trainings that we offer. We have adapted over the times to reach out to be with you across the world.

But at the heart of our work, we are still a group of friends who love yoga and want to make the world a better place.

Thank you so much for being part of this family of Dru – by teaching yoga, through volunteering and supporting us. Thank you for lighting your inner flame and being the change that you want to see in the world.

Happy 45th anniversary!

A little tutorial ......if not aware all already....✨🙏

Today, please celebrate your inner light! It's the ninth day after the new moon and is the birthday of Sri Ram - the seventh incarnation of Lord Vishnu.

On this sacred day, Rama was born to Dashrath, the king of Ayodhya and Kaushalya, the queen. The spiritual significance of Ramnami is :

1. The Sanskrit word Ram literally translates as ‘the light of the self’. The light within us is called Ram.
Rama (ra and ma): 'Ra' means light. 'Ma' means within. The divine light within you is Rama.

2. Dasharatha (dasa and ratha): Rama's father. 'Dasa' means ten. 'Ratha' means ten chariots.
Our body has ten organs – Panch Jnanendriya, or the five organs of knowledge which are ears, skin, eyes, tongue, and nose and Panch karmendriya or the five organs of action which are mouth, hands, feet, reproductive, and excretory organs.

3 Kaushalya: Rama's mother. It means 'skill'. A skilled charioteer rides the ten chariots and generates the strength that is contained in Rama.

4. Ayodhya, lord Rama’s place of birth means the one which is devoid of any war or violence.
'A' is the negative prefix to 'Yodhya' which means 'war'. So, a place where there is no war but prosperity and justice is called Ayodhya.

The essence of the story is this: With the use of skill when you bring your senses inwards when your mind is quiet and free from conflict, that is when the divine eternal light, which is Lord Rama, dawns within you. Rama is born when the inner light shines through.

So today, please focus on your inner flame.

Take a few minutes to light a candle, take time to meditate, and do your yoga practice. Celebrate that light within and let it remove all fear and worry.

HAPPY RAMNAMI!

Ayurveda Wisdom!
While you may be aware of the ill-effects of unbalanced doshas—airy vata, fiery pitta, and stuck, immobile kapha, it’s important to recognise that each of the doshas has positive, productive aspects and plays a constructive role in our health and wellbeing.

When vata is in tune, all movement in the body is harmonised. Outwardly you are dancing gracefully, inwardly going about the business of smoothly moving the body: You feel creative, flexible and adaptable and able to take on any challenge that arises.

Positive aspects of a balanced pitta brings lustrous skin, shining eyes, clear perception, strong discrimination and the insight that aligns the sharpness of intellect with the subtle understandings of the heart. You make clear decisions and are able to bring a soft yet consistent focus to any task.

The positive aspects of kapha, allow us to sleep and rest. Kapha literally holds the body together, it is the energy of being structured. Kapha is also the source of love, calmness and forgiveness, and the steadiness and reliability of memory.

And finally, balanced kapha allows us to maintain our persistent and patient striving towards a worthwhile goal.

What are your health goals this year? And your favourite Ayurveda practice?
