Last Thursday, we gathered for our Remembrance Service — a moment of reflection, gratitude, and deep connection. Standing together, we honoured the families and individuals who entrusted Anam Cara House Geelong with their care when they needed us most.
 
We also gathered to celebrate all that Anam Cara has contributed to our community. From 2007 to 2025, Anam Cara has delivered over 10,000 episodes of care, supported 2,064 deaths, 1,368 equipment loans to families and over 13,500 nights of overnight carer support.
 
Our community has shown extraordinary resilience and tenacity throughout every challenge. It is this strength that has carried us to where we are today.
 
Anam Cara was built on the shoulders of giants — volunteers, donors, leaders, carers, families, and countless quiet champions whose belief in compassionate care shaped our legacy.
 
To every family who chose us, to every community member who stood with us: thank you. Your courage, trust, and love have guided our pathway to deliver exemplary palliative care to the Geelong community.

The Garden We Grew 🌿

Over the past year, guests of our Living Well Day Program have been taking part in weekly art therapy with our art therapist, Lucy Rae. Through creativity, connection, and reflection, they’ve explored new ways of expressing themselves, many for the first time since childhood.

This exhibition celebrates that journey - the artworks, the stories, and the growth that’s bloomed through art.

Opening Monday 24th November at Deakin Waterfront Gallery, running until late March 2026
📍 Open Monday–Friday, 9am–5pm

We’re also hosting a special Opening Night for the Anam Cara community on Monday 24th November, 5–7pm - a celebration not only of the beautiful works created, but of the legacy and heart of Anam Cara itself.

Special thanks to Deakin Library for generously donating this beautiful gallery space, and to Frameline and Kardinia Picture Framers for so kindly framing every artwork.

Hosted by , this year’s event brought together the community to have important conversations about death, dying, and end-of-life wishes.

Our very own Spiritual Carer Jo Betz joined the panel and reflected:
✨ “What stood out to me was how the audience had the chance to ask questions that are often seen as taboo, with D2KD creating a safe space to bring these topics into the open and helping people find answers they may have been holding onto for a long time. It also really highlighted the importance of having conversations with loved ones about their wishes at the end of life, to ease stress and uncertainty when the time comes.”
