Community update: Wee Waa Health Service

Due to ongoing flood risks, we are extending the operating hours of the Wee Waa Health Service from:

📅 Thursday 7 August to Sunday 10 August 2025
🕖 7am to 10:30pm

NSW Ambulance is also providing extended care in Wee Waa. Paramedics will be on-site to work alongside staff and support patient care from:

Six weeks on from launch, the DAP+ Medibus has completed its very first rural trip, bringing gold-standard diabetes care straight to the communities of Narrabri and Wee Waa.

Over five days, the team provided specialist care to 35 patients, supported local clinicians, and hosted a clinical education evening that brought 34 local health professionals together for the first time.

A huge thank you to our partners, Hunter New England and Central Coast Primary Health Network, Hunter Medical Research Institute (HMRI) and The University of Newcastle, Australia.

This first rural trip is just the beginning. After a successful stop in Newcastle during NAIDOC Week, the DAP+ Medibus is continuing its journey with upcoming visits to the Lower Mid North Coast, Tamworth, and the Upper Hunter.
