AAC = Augmentative and Alternative Communication.
It’s any way a child can communicate when talking is tricky using pictures, signs, boards or communication apps.
AAC helps children:
✅ Share wants, needs & ideas
✅ Build language and vocabulary
✅ Join in with family routines
✅ Feel heard and included
✅ Reduce frustration

✨ Myth busting:
Using AAC does not stop speech. It supports speech and language development.
Many children use AAC alongside talking to communicate more clearly, especially in tricky moments.
Every child’s voice matters. AAC helps it be heard 💛

Developmental Language Disorder (DLD) is a hidden disability, many people have never heard of it even though it affects 1 in 14 people.
This means in every classroom and playground there are likely children who find learning language much harder than expected.
DLD can make it difficult to understand language, follow instructions, tell stories, learn new words and keep up in conversations.
Over time this can impact learning, friendships and confidence.
With the right support children with DLD can thrive. Speech pathology helps build strong communication skills and supports success at school and home.
If you are concerned your child may have DLD or is finding language difficult, contact our team to book an assessment.

Today we celebrate the incredible team of Allied Health Professionals who help Australians live healthier, happier lives. From speech pathologists and occupational therapists to physios, dietitians and more.
This year’s theme, “Stronger Together”, reminds us of the power of teamwork. When professionals from different fields come together, children and families receive the very best care.
We’re proud to be part of this amazing community, working side by side with families, teachers and other therapists to make a difference every day.
