We love Pop the Pig at Smart Talk for Kids!
Playing this silly, colourful game isn’t just fun - it’s a sneaky way to work on your child’s therapy goals!
Speech Pathology:
• Practice turn-taking and social communication
• Colour and number recognition
• Vocabulary building
Occupational Therapy:
• Improve hand strength and coordination by pressing the pig’s tummy
• Enhance attention, planning, and sequencing

Games + therapy = learning disguised as fun! Who’s ready to pop the pig?

Here’s a snapshot of a typical day at Smart Talk.
Lots of play, lots of planning, and lots of small wins that make a big difference.

Strong narrative skills help children share ideas, retell events, understand stories and succeed at school.
You can build narrative skills at home by:
• Talking about your child’s day in order (first, then, last)
• Using photos to help them remember what happened
• Reading stories together and talking about who, where and what went wrong
• Modelling simple stories about everyday activities
Narrative skills support friendships, vocabulary growth and the move from talking to writing.
If your child finds it hard to retell events or stories clearly, our speech pathologists at Smart Talk are here to help.

Language isn’t a transaction.
It’s not compliance.
It’s not “say it properly.”
It’s not performing for adults.
It’s connection. 🤍
We talk to share.
To belong.
To be understood.
To reach each other.
Kids don’t learn through pressure.
They learn through relationship.
Connect first — then communication follows.
Always.

Strong core strength supports how children sit, move and focus during learning.
A strong core helps with:
• Sitting upright at the table and on the mat
• Attention and focus during learning tasks
• Pencil control and handwriting
• Balance, coordination and playground confidence
The good news? Core strength can be built through fun, everyday movement like crawling, climbing, animal walks and play-based exercises.
If your child tires easily, slouches, avoids table tasks or finds handwriting hard, an OT assessment can help identify the next steps.
Our occupational therapists at Smart Talk support children to build the foundations for confident learning.
