Whether you're a weekend warrior, a school athlete, or a professional sportsperson, injuries to the lower limb are common and can be seriously disruptive if not managed well.🏃⚽️

🦵The lower limb includes complex joints and muscles of the hip, knee, ankle, and foot, all of which are critical for movement, balance, and shock absorption.

➡️At Eureka Health, we frequently assess and treat patients with lower limb injuries. Click the link below to learn why these injuries occur, which types are most common, and how early intervention by an osteopath or physiotherapist can support recovery and reduce long-term complications.

‼️New Class Added - Foundations Reformer Pilates

Foundations Reformer Pilates is a class focussed on building a strong understanding of the Pilates technique and repertoire. By keeping the structure simple, and the moves familiar, you will have an opportunity to build strength and confidence through consistency, and the application of the 6 Pilates principles.

This will give you a strong foundation to take into other class styles, and to carry with you through your Pilates practice. We will also spend time learning to set the reformer up for your body, so you feel confident adjusting springs, straps and stoppers in any class.

This class will be a great starting point for those new to reformer Pilates, and will also benefit experienced practitioners when they’re in the mood to refine their technique, or if coming back to exercise after a break and looking for a class with a more deliberate pace.

⭐️September is Pain Awareness Month⭐️

Chronic pain is complex, can significantly impact your day to day life and can involve multiple systems in the body. Whether it is back pain, migraines or persistent pelvic pain, research shows that pain isn't always a direct reflection of the injury or condition itself.

For example, in endometriosis, the amount of pain someone experiences doesn't necessarily match the number of lesions present. This highlights how pain is influenced not only by the body, but also by the nervous system and the way it processes signals over time.🧠

The first step in managing chronic pain is often confirming a diagnosis and ruling out serious conditions. From there, treatment can shift towards strategies that empower you to cope, retrain the body's pain response and support overall wellbeing.💪

Shoulder pain is one of the most common complaints people present with in everyday life, whether it is from sport, work, or daily activities. But not all shoulder pain actually originates from the shoulder joint itself. 💪

In many cases, the true source of the discomfort lies higher up in the cervical spine (your neck). When the cervical spine is irritated, for example by a stiff joint, a disc injury, or muscle tightness, the pain can radiate into the shoulder, upper back, or even down into the arm.

If you are experiencing persistent shoulder discomfort, especially if it spreads into your arm or does not improve with rest, it is important to seek professional advice.

✨️Day 5 - Be kind to your mind✨️

It's easy to forget yourself in the busyness of life. But your mind (and body) matter! Mental health is just as important as your physical health. Being kind to your mind means recognising when you need support and knowing you don't have to push through alone.🧠

✨️Day 2 - Take the lead✨️

Today’s topic is all about arming yourself with the right knowledge and tools to help you have confident and informed conversations with your health professionals.

One acronym that is often used in the birth space for informed decision making is "BRAIN". You can apply this framework to lots of different health conversations. Our clinicians are all well versed in taking the time to have these conversations.
B - Benefits -what are the benefits?
R - Risk - what are the risks?
A - Alternatives - are there any alternative options?
I - Intuition - what is my gut feeling about this?
N - Nothing - what would happen if i did nothing?

One conversation that may feel intimidating to start is the topic of pelvic organ prolapse. In reality, a mild amount of prolapse is common and often benefits from simple education and tips that our pelvic health team can help with.

Our Story

Eureka Osteo began in 2001 as a little clinic on Ascot Street with just Anthony Rogan as the sole osteopath. Gradually our team grew, with Megan May becoming a partner 2015. In response to the growing demand for osteopathy in Ballarat, in July 2018 Eureka Osteo moved to a purpose built clinic 1120 Howitt St. This clinic features not only osteo, but also our very own physio, massage therapist, exercise physiologist and pilates/yoga studio called OASIS.

Our space is warm, engaging and practical- as soon as you walk in, you’ll feel good. We feel good about creating it for you! Pop in and say hi to find out how we can help you with any pain or injury that might be holding you back.
