A fair chunk of my clients present with upper back and neck tension. Here’s a quick overview of what could be going on:
⚡ Overworked muscles: Upper traps, levator scap, scalenes, and SCM are doing all the heavy lifting, causing neck tension.
💪 Weak muscles: Rhomboids, serratus, and lower traps aren’t pulling their weight, making it harder to improve that forward shoulder posture.
😣 Tight chest: Pecs pull your shoulders forward even more!
Things that might help:
1. Stretch your chest (doorway stretches).
2. Strengthen your upper back (rows, wall slides, band work).
3. Mind your posture, especially if you’re sitting a lot!
4. And of course, a massage. 😉
As a remedial massage therapist, I can help release tension in those overworked muscles and address postural imbalances to bring you relief. Regular treatments and self-care can make a big difference. 💆♀️💆♂️
