Healthy beginnings, hopeful futures! 🌟
Each year on April 7th, Women With Disabilities Australia (WWDA) and the global community come together to celebrate World Health Day. This day serves as a platform to spotlight pressing health issues that affect people worldwide. In 2025, the theme is "Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures," focusing on prenatal, reproductive and newborn health.
This theme is especially relevant to our community, as women, girls and gender-diverse people with disability often experience social and medical barriers to necessary healthcare, systemic bias and discrimination, and a lack of autonomy over their rights. WWDA advocates for inclusive reproductive and parental healthcare, accessible medical spaces, and government support for these needs - and will continue to do so.
Today is a reminder that healthcare is a fundamental right, and must be inclusive. Every parent, regardless of whether or not they have disability, deserves adequate healthcare and support.
