At Seesaw Psychotherapy, Maryanne builds awareness by focusing on your present moment experience. By developing an increased level of awareness, you are able to approach life’s situations more confidently and resolve issues you may encounter. When something is getting in the way of our current level of awareness, we may find ourselves repeating similar patterns of behaviour that are no longer serving positively in our lives. This can lead to experiencing feelings of unhappiness, anxiety, depression, confusion and, in children, disobedience and aggression. For example, storing emotions we are perhaps unaware of from the past can drastically impact how we relate to those around us in our present; friends, family and co-workers, just to name a few. Without awareness, repetition of the same unsatisfying circumstances in our lives continue to occur. When we gently invite stored emotions to become a part of our awareness, we are able to free ourselves from repeating disruptive patterns and allow ourselves to live a more satisfying life. Maryanne has extensive experience working with individuals, children and families both here in Australia and in schools and orphanages abroad (Europe and Asia). Maryanne has a passion for the well-being of individuals, particularly children, and an understanding to assist families who are in crisis or need a little guidance towards a more positive direction. Maryanne graduated from Victoria University, Melbourne, with a Bachelor of Communication in 2005 and completed a Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy (Gestalt) in 2011. Maryanne is currently studying a Masters of Social Work (Mental Health) at the University of Queensland and will complete a Masters of Psychotherapy (Gestalt) in November 2014. Maryanne is currently taking appointments for psychotherapy on the south side of Brisbane and will be working by individual appointment and for group therapy support at Shambhala Wellbeing Centre, Port Melbourne (Victoria) in 2015.
