The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is now available in SA.

The Moderna COVID-19 vaccine is an mRNA (messenger ribonucleic acid) vaccine, similar to Pfizer, that works by teaching your cells to make a particular protein or a part of a protein. Your immune system recognises that the protein doesn’t belong there and builds antibodies to fight it.

It's scientifically proven that mRNA vaccines will not alter your DNA as it does not enter the nucleus of the cell, where our DNA is kept. After the mRNA has done its job, the cell breaks down and gets rid of the mRNA.

Moderna is being used successfully in the United Kingdom, Canada, the European Union, the United States and Singapore.
