Today would have been my grandmother’s 110th birthday, and there’s something really special about it falling on International Women’s Day in 2026. She began the legacy in our family of strong women who are devoted to healthcare, and each generation since has followed that path.
I’m incredibly proud to say that I’ve now raised the fourth generation—my daughter—who is just beginning her own healthcare journey at university. It feels like a beautiful continuation of everything my grandmother started. Talk about inspirational and it's shame she ever got to know the huge impact she had on the females in her family.

Happy GCAD!! Today we celebrate who we are and what we do to within the health system.
As the application of genomic medicine in healthcare increases, people will need greater access to genetic counsellors. We are important allied health professionals that support you through your journey and find new ways to understand the impact of genetics in your health.
