Lawson Clinical Psychology Improving lives through excellence in psychological healthcare in West Perth and Claremont

Based in two central Perth locations, Lawson Clinical Psychology offers a wide range of services, which allows our clients to choose from 26 qualified and experienced clinical psychologists, supported by six administration team members. All of our clinical psychologists have a minimum of six years training, in addition to hospital and outpatient workplace experience, where they have had exposure treating a range of psychological difficulties. We strive to provide a warm and welcoming environment at our clinic and we aim to build inclusive and positive relationships with our clients, our team and our community. We have clinics conveniently located in character properties in the suburbs of West Perth and Claremont. We have carefully selected the decor and furnishings within our clinics to create a relaxing, welcoming and homely atmosphere. We value clinical excellence and our goal is to provide the highest quality care to our clients. This, together with our commitment to excellence within our approach to the training and supervision we provide to other health professionals and our team, is what sets us apart from other practices. Our approach is client-focussed as we see the value in understanding our client's unique and individual needs, as this enables us to help them develop their goals – and just as importantly, design a plan to achieve them.

Reconnect with Nature for Better Mental Health

Did you know that spending time in nature can have a powerful effect on your mental well-being?

Research shows that connecting with natural environments can reduce stress, lift mood, and improve focus. Even a short stroll through the park can help you feel more grounded, refreshed, and connected.

As the weather warms up, it’s the perfect time to reflect on small ways to bring more “green time” into your day — whether it’s gardening, walking along the beach, enjoying lunch outdoors, or visiting a local park. Notice how these moments in nature influence your sense of calm and balance.

Meet Lola! 🤝

Lola is one of our fabulous Client Relationship Officers here at LCP!

She understands that starting your therapeutic journey can feel overwhelming and goes above and beyond to provide a warm, supportive, and welcoming environment for everyone. Whether you’re seeking help for the first time, booking appointments, or just need a local café recommendation, Lola ensures every client feels seen, heard, understood, and supported from the moment they walk through the door.

Outside of work, Lola is completing her Bachelor of Psychology and volunteers to support high school students as they navigate their journey into adulthood.

When she’s not busy at work or studying, you’ll find her buried in a good book (or her Kindle!), spending quality time with her dog, Charlie, or enjoying the great outdoors in the South West.

Welcome, Lola! 🤗

We are excited to introduce Beth, a valued member of our Client Relationship Team at Lawson Clinical Psychology.

Beth is dedicated to helping clients feel supported and making that first step into therapy a little easier. She is currently completing her Master of Counselling and holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology.

With a passion for mental health and years of hands-on experience as a nanny and gymnastics coach, Beth hopes to one day support children as a school counsellor. Her time working with young people has shown her the importance of creating safe, supportive environments where children can build confidence, form healthy relationships, and develop lifelong skills.

Outside of work, Beth loves spending time with friends and family, swimming at the beach (inside the shark net!), and baking something sweet in the kitchen.

Welcome, Beth! 👏

Team Culture Day at Lawson Clinical Psychology

Last week our team came together for a Team Culture Day filled with connection, laughter, and teamwork.

Days like these remind us how important it is to strengthen our connections with one another, so we can continue to reinforce the values of our team and work as a unit.

Supporting each other and reinforcing our culture is an essential part of how we provide the best care for our clients and community.

We’re so grateful for a team that values collaboration, compassion, and growth — both inside and outside the clinic!

FAQ about the OCD group at Lawson Clinical Psychology

Are you interested in joining a group therapy session? Perhaps you have heard about our upcoming OCD group starting in the second week of November.

Feeling unsure about joining a group? That’s understandable. We are here to answer any questions you might have about our groups.

Q: What should I expect when attending my first group session?

A: Most or all of the first group session will usually be an ‘introductory session’. After arriving, you will meet with your therapists and fellow group members. During this time, your therapist will discuss expectations for the group and provide any necessary information related to confidentiality or other details related to participation. Once everyone has introduced themselves, your therapists will then invite a shared discussion about the goals of the group (e.g. to learn ways to manage anxiety, worry, OCD, emotions), and will share an overview of the information and skills that will be covered throughout the coming weeks of the program.

If you're looking for a supportive community of people to support you with skills on how to tackle OCD. Contact groups@lawsonpsychology.com.au.

✨ Breaking Free from OCD Starts Here ✨

If you saw our recent post last week about OCD symptoms, you might be wondering — how can I overcome those intrusive thoughts and repetitive rituals?

The answer lies in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) — a proven, evidence-based treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

ERP helps you face your fears and resist compulsions in a safe, supportive environment. With the guidance and support of a therapist, you’ll gradually learn that your anxiety naturally decreases without engaging in rituals — empowering you to take back control from OCD. 💪

💬 Struggling with obsessive thoughts or repetitive rituals? You’re not alone — and there is help.

📢 We’re excited to announce our Adult OCD Group starting this November!
If you’d like to learn more or register your interest, reach out to our Client Relationship Team today. 💙

📣 Blog post announcement - Therapy modes, explained simply.

If you’ve ever read a therapist’s bio before, you might have come across a sentence like:

“I work from a CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy) framework.”

But what does that actually mean? And what about ACT? Or DBT?

In our latest blog post, we break down three common types of therapy modalities you might hear about, what they involve, and how they might help.

Click the link our bio to read more 🖥️ 🖱 You can also contact us on 6143 4499 or take a look at 'our team' page on our website to learn more about the different therapies we offer at LCP.
