World Diabetes Day 2025 β€” Strength in Every Step

As we count down to November 14, the world prepares to stand together in recognition of those living with diabetes a condition that challenges, strengthens, and inspires millions every day.

Diabetes is more than a diagnosis. It is a daily journey of discipline, courage, and unwavering resilience. To everyone living with it, you are not defined by the condition you are defined by your strength, determination, and the will to live fully.

Today, we celebrate your perseverance. We honour the families who support loved ones through lifestyle adjustments, medication, and mindful choices. And we appreciate the healthcare professionals who guide and care with empathy and expertise.

Here’s how we can all take steps toward a healthier life and prevent diabetes:

Eat smart: Choose balanced meals rich in vegetables, whole grains, lean protein, and fruits while reducing sugar and processed foods.

Stay active: Engage in at least 30 minutes of physical activity walking, jogging, dancing, or any movement you enjoy five times a week.

Hydrate well: Water is your best friend. It helps control blood sugar and keeps your body functioning optimally.

Prioritize rest: Adequate sleep helps regulate metabolism and reduce stress levels.

Regular check-ups: Know your blood sugar levels, monitor your weight, and talk with your healthcare provider about your risk factors.

To those living with diabetes:
You are warriors. Every healthy choice you make, every day you manage your numbers, every challenge you overcome you remind the world that life with diabetes is not a limitation but a testimony of strength.

As we approach World Diabetes Day, let’s spread awareness, show compassion, and inspire one another to live better, move more, and care deeper because health is not just about the absence of disease, but the presence of hope, balance, and daily intentional choices.

Together, we can beat diabetes one step, one choice, one day at a time.

🟑 Bowel cancer screening saves lives.

The eligible age for the National Bowel Cancer Screening Program was lowered from 50 to 45 last year. If you're aged 45 to 49, you can now request your first free kit. If you're 50 to 74, you'll continue to receive a kit in the mail.

βœ… Screening every 2 years from age 45 is key to finding bowel cancer early, when it is easier to treat.

πŸ”Ή Not eligible for the program?
If you're under 45 or over 74, you can talk to your doctor about your screening options.
πŸ”Ή Medicare-funded kits may be available if recommended by your doctor.
πŸ”Ή Kits can also be purchased online or from your local pharmacy.

And if you have any signs or symptoms that concern you, speak with your doctor.

Let’s encourage our family, friends and loved ones to take bowel screening seriously. πŸ’¬πŸ’™
