March is World Endometriosis Awareness Month 💛

It’s a time to shine a light on the 1 in 7 Australian women, girls and those presumed female at birth living with endometriosis.

Endometriosis is more than “bad periods.” It’s chronic pain, fatigue, fertility challenges, and years of waiting for answers.

This month, we raise awareness. We start conversations. We make endometriosis impossible to ignore.

A new strategy has been released, providing essential support for women, babies and families.

"Midwifery Matters: Tasmanian Midwifery Workforce Strategy 2025–2030" was developed to further strengthen the midwifery workforce and our midwifery services now and into the future. ✨

It outlines 20 actions to enhance our services and elevate midwifery practice across three main themes.

These themes are workforce capacity, workforce capability and connection with women and families.

Examples include enhanced education pathways, expansion of midwifery-led models of care, and continuity of care access for women.

We are so excited to share this for a new private midwife starting in Hobart 🌼🦋🌸

Hello!
I’d love to introduce myself - I’m Olivia Wylde, a privately practising midwife here in Hobart. I’m returning to work after welcoming my daughter Daisy, at the end of August, and I’m so excited to be back supporting families again.

A little about me - I’m a Kiwi who trained and worked in New Zealand, where continuity of midwifery care is the gold standard (not a luxury!). It’s a hope and dream to see that same model thrive here in Tasmania.

I moved to Australia in 2022 and have worked across a variety of models of care. In Melbourne, I worked in both public and private obstetric hospitals, as well as private midwifery practice. Since moving to Hobart in 2024, I’ve worked at both the North West Regional Hospital and the Royal Hobart Hospital - so I’ve seen maternity care from many angles and built wonderful relationships within the maternity services along the way.

Some exciting news - private midwives can now apply for visiting rights at the Royal Hobart Hospital, and I’m currently in the process of obtaining mine. This means I can walk alongside you wherever you choose to give birth ✨at home or in hospital✨ because choice is at the heart of safe, respectful maternity care.
