Happy INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY (IWD) 🌺❤️🌺
It’s International Women’s Day, recognising the achievements of women and encouraging communities to strive for equality, and the theme for 2026 is 'Rights. Justice. Action. For ALL Women and Girls (UN Women HQ, WHO): A direct call to action against rising violence, systemic discrimination, and reversed rights, demanding accountability and universal equality. '
When we inspire others to understand and value women's inclusion, we forge a better world. And when women themselves are inspired to be included, there's a sense of belonging, relevance and empowerment.
I am so very lucky to be surrounded by strong women. I was raised by one and grew up with many. My mother, my grandmother, my aunt's, and friends are all badass, strong, empowering women. They are all in various types of work and are all uniquely special and wondrous in their own abilities. I have an array of these successful women to look up to, some are in the work force in, some are in leadership roles, some are working from home, some are raising families and some are retired. They are all accomplished and all so amazing ❤️
Take a moment and think about the amazing women you have in your life! Tag them, share this with them and just remind them how badass they are ❤️❤️
"Why do we celebrate this day internationally?" You may ask.
IWD is dedicated to celebrating women’s achievements in the social, economic, cultural, and political spheres.
Back in 1911, only 8 countries allowed women to vote, equal pay for equal work was unheard of – if women were allowed to work at all – and reproductive rights were non-existent.
In 1893, New Zealand was the first nation in the world to grant female adult women the right to vote, many countries followed in quick succession. However, there are still countries particularly in Africa and Arabia where voting has been legislated, but violence against women at the voting polls alarming!
March 8 is the day the world celebrates how far women's rights have come, and recognises how far we have yet to go.
HERE'S TO STRONG WOMEN
💗MAY WE KNOW THEM
💗MAY WE BE THEM
💗MAY WE RAISE THEM
