Immunisation is one of the ways people can look after their health.
For many families, vaccines are a simple and effective option to help reduce the risk of serious illness for children, adults and Elders. They can support people to stay well and keep doing the things that matter to them.
Aboriginal people in South Australia can access some extra free vaccines, including:
• Pneumococcal vaccines – to protect against serious lung infections
• Shingles vaccine – for those aged 50 and over
• RSV vaccine – now free for pregnant women from 28–36 weeks, protecting both mum and bub from Respiratory Syncytial Virus
Keeping vaccinations up to date is a personal health choice. For many people, it is one option that can support their own wellbeing and the wellbeing of those around them.
