Minnie MacDougall Counselling Services

Minnie MacDougall Counselling Services Providing Auslan counselling services for Deaf and HH people in Newcastle and on Zoom Aus-wide. Iam a NAATI accredited Interpreter and Social Worker.

I completed my Social Work degree in 2004 and have been working with families, adults and children over the last 20 years. I now specifically provide Auslan counselling services to Deaf, Hard of Hearing clients and their families in Newcastle and the Hunter. I also provide counselling on Zoom to people across Australia. Iam a CODA and so grew up with Deaf parents and have been involved in Deaf community and Deaf culture my whole life. I work with adults and children. My areas of interest are assisting families through change- through family separation, transition stages, parenting and grief and loss. I would also love to assist you in managing depression, anxiety and looking at ways to increase your self- confidence and sense of identity. Looking forward to meeting you

Love this image. Sharing your thoughts and feelings with a counsellor or a friend definitely helps untangle those knots.

Sometimes our thoughts can feel like a tangled mess. But sharing them with someone, bit by bit, can help loosen the knots 💛

Love this reminder.

Sometimes life can feel very out of control!! In those times it’s helpful to step back take some time to stop, walk, breathe, journal, get into nature and think about what I can and can’t do. What am I choosing to be responsible for?

I've been thinking about my work recently and thought I'd pop up another video. I'd love to provide a space for Interpreters, Support Workers and CODAs and anyone else involved in the Deaf and Hard of Hearing community. This is a safe and confidential space for you!

Also this is my first go at doing a voice over AND using captions! Pretty good, except for the spelling of coder instead of CODA 😆😆 Forgive me as I work on improving my technology skills!
Have a great Friday!

Hello how are you?

I'd like to let you know I have availability for new clients.
I have worked as a Social Worker and Counsellor for 20 years and over that time my focus has been working with parents, children and families.

Working with parents is a passion of mine.
I'd love to work with Deaf parents who have hearing or Deaf kids, or with hearing parents that have Deaf kids.

The parent- child relationship is so important for kids well- being and resiliency into the future. If you want to talk more about your parenting or have any other questions about counselling please send me an email, or message me on fb or Instagram!

Have a great day 🌸
