When families feel empowered with the right knowledge, everything changes.

That's why last Thursday was so special. Our PBS Team Leader Renee Morihovitis was invited by What Ability to be a guest speaker at their Parent Afternoon Tea in Kew, sharing practical strategies that make a real difference.

Renee presented on two key topics:
👉Support Coordination (Level 2) and Specialist Support Coordination (Level 3) – the difference between Level 2 vs 3, what makes a great Support Coordinator, plus shared useful resources for understanding funding and building strong cases.

👉Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) – what it is, why it helps, and how it focuses on making life better by understanding behaviours, building skills, and protecting rights. Also covered challenging behaviours, needs like safety and belonging, escalation cycle, NDIS Restrictive Practices, PBS plans and funding, and why teamwork and consistency are important for success.

We were invited by What Ability because we share a passion for empowering families and creating real connections. It was all about answering questions, sharing stories, and giving families practical tools to navigate their NDIS journey.

This is what we do best at My Right 2 Voice. Whether it's one-on-one consultations or tailored workshops for your team or community, we're here to share knowledge that makes a difference. 💙

Want to bring a workshop to your organisation or book a consultation?

Get in touch – we'd love to connect. A huge thank you to What Ability for having us and for the incredible work you do supporting participants and their families.

Overwhelmed, overstimulated, and shutting down.

Chase shares his experience when it comes to getting to the point of non-verbal with his experiences of AuDHD.

We spoke about a few things:
- How he personally combats these moments himself
- How his friends/family can/have supported him in these moments
- How he is more equipped now then every before which is incredible to see
- His take on his disability, and his point of acceptance vs the concept of ‘fixing’ it.
- His struggles to convey what he’s going through, and what works for him.

And lastly, we spoke about how everyone’s different. Chase mentioned in some heightened moments that he does really need support to navigate the situation.

This is why person-centred support is soo important in this industry, the presentation of someone’s hidden disability can be broad, and no two people are the same.

Diagnosed with ADHD at age 34, after founding My Right 2 Voice, Maverick brings a unique perspective to disability services.

Since the beginning of this company, Maverick has always told MR2V employees that "this industry is not for everyone—but it's for the right people."

Some people don't truly understand what that means until they've lived it.

Lived experience comes in many forms. While Mav started in this sector at the young age of 16, he's now 34, supporting individuals with a lifetime of lived experience of ADHD.

To give ADHD Awareness Month its send-off for the year, we wanted to give you insights into our leader Maverick, who "started this business to help as many people as he possibly could, to the highest standard they deserve."

Read about his journey of leadership, ADHD diagnosis, and why he continues to advocate for people whose voices too often go unheard.

Real inclusion means creating workplaces where neurodivergent employees can thrive 💙

Meet Katy, a Positive Behaviour Support Practitioner at My Right 2 Voice who supports participants with autism, ADHD, and complex needs. As someone with ADHD herself and neurodivergent children at home, Katy knows firsthand the difference accommodations make.

What helps her thrive at work:

- Flexible hours to manage energy
- Options to work from different spaces
- Inclusive language and consistent recognition
- A culture that values wellbeing

"Without these accommodations, I wouldn't be able to work, support others, or build the meaningful connections I have today." - Katy

ADHD Awareness Month reminds us that inclusion isn't a one-month project — it's an ongoing commitment to building spaces where everyone can bring their whole selves to work. 💙

Getting distracted while talking about ADHD 😅

Well, for some reason, I thought it was a good idea for Chase and I to talk about ADHD for ADHD Awareness month while doing some bouldering.

This proved to be both distracting and fun, but also good for our brains.

Exercise is one of the best natural ways to give the body the dopamine our ADHD brains hunt for. Exercise is good for everyone, and it's specifically important for ADHDers when trying to find something to help regulate us and give us the dopamine needed.

Some people arguably like to call ADHD a dopamine deficiency disorder, rather than the name it was given: Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder. This is due to our natural lower levels of baseline dopamine compared to neurotypical folk out there.

My brain was not functioning well prior to us beginning our bouldering session, so it was actually smart for both of us to do some physical activity to talk about the subject better. It's funny how that works.

We have some more content coming between Chase and me related to this, and a few staff articles to finish off ADHD awareness month and some additional content we have related to this diagnosis following the awareness initiative.

80% of all disabilities are hidden.

There are estimated over 900 invisible disabilities that all impact individuals quality of life in some way.

What does this show us? That you never really know what someone could be going through.

More than reason to show kindness & empathy in society.

By continuing to understand, recognise, and find ways to support each other.

Over this month, we’ve been discussing ADHD, and will continue to.

And this is just one of many.

Navigating Duel Diagnosis within the disability sector…

Was the main topic of discussion from the latest training that two of our specialist support coordinators (Leeona, & Amie) attended just the other day.

Hosted by a few key individuals that are making an impact within the disability sector right now gave us some insights on the topic of Navigating Dual Diagnosis - Mental Health & Disability. Thanks Samir Demyati for a great session.

And thanks Jessica Dale for your take on the importance of participant matching in housing within SIL. The decision making in this space can truly impact ones quality of life.

Greg Artemiou thanks for your insights on the some of the lesser known line items and how to use them. This helps our support coordinators soo much!

Highly recommend learning off these individuals.
