Last week we had our very first community gathering here on our property in Wilson’s Creek.
We sat in a circle, with a shared altar to which we brought our own ornaments to add to the space.
At some point in our meeting, someone mentioned not having thought of the concept of ‘community’ as being something different from what we were already doing — caring for the land, supporting each other, and attuning to the whole — which says a lot about community being an expression of our human nature; it’s nothing added or created.
Despite the already established felt sense of community we carried as a group, there is always something quite profound and sacred about gathering in a circle that goes beyond our individual selves and the group.
There is a tangible and profound connection to something much deeper and timeless — one that includes nature, our ancestors, and the unknown — and it goes far beyond our individual selves.
The impacts of gathering in a circle with shared intention feel so natural and so foundational to our well-being that I can see how much we lose by not having more opportunities like this in our society.
May we continue to carry this expression of ancient wisdom and not dismiss the power it has to transform our relationship with mystery and the sacred. 💛🌱
