One of my favourite parts of General Practice is taking the time to know my patients, explore the full picture and provide evidence based, personalised, pragmatic advice.

The new Medicare changes do not support that. So my billing will remain unchanged and I will continue to provide the care you know and expect.

Off the back of presenting on preventive health at the “Into the Heart” retreat, I have the Well-being checklist for women - it’s not just mammograms and cervical screening!

The mental end emotional load of parenting is HUGE!
So often we take for granted all the things we facilitate as parents, when actually, it is spectacular and worthy of recognition.

Here’s a glimpse into 6 minutes of my morning… sound familiar??

Happy Father’s Day 💙

Today we celebrate the love, care, and guidance of dads and father figures everywhere.

I feel so grateful for my own dad — my biggest champion, who believes in me, taught me, mentored me, gave me space to grow and do things my own way, and above all, loves me unconditionally. That foundation has given me me the courage to chase some wild dreams.

I also see the powerful love my husband pours into our kids — the mid-marathon hugs, the way he backs their passions, encourages them to keep showing up, and adapts parenting as we learn more about who they are. With that kind of love behind them, I know they’ll thrive.

But I know Father’s Day can look different for everyone. So today we also hold space for:
✨ Those who are missing their dads
✨ Those navigating complicated relationships
✨ Families where love comes from many different places – mums, grandparents, uncles, aunties, friends, community
✨ Those who long to be dads but aren’t

Wherever you find yourself this Father’s Day, you are in my thoughts.

Life has been full lately. With the kids back at school, we’ve been readjusting to early mornings, extra-curriculars, music practice and homework… and wow, the emotional load has been big.

We’ve been focusing on showing up for our kids — scaffolding their days, helping them through the big feelings. And in the process? A few other balls got dropped… like hair brushing 😅

I spotted this matted mess a few days ago, but none of us had the capacity to deal with it then. So we went with the old faithful: messy bun 🤣

Today, with things a little calmer, we tackled it. One kid, one brush, one bottle of conditioner and a video game — and we got through it. I’m calling it a win.

I often talk to families about priorities: what has to be done, and what can wait. It’s different for everyone. And while I definitely don’t recommend leaving your child’s hair to form a mega knot… I’d do it again (and probably will), if something else needs that precious energy.

Remember, you’re doing a great job — even if some days it’s just a win to get out the door.

What I wish your paediatrician knew more of about breastfeeding…

💧Frequent feeds? Normal.
😴 Feeding to sleep? Normal.
🌙 Night feeds? Not just normal — essential in the first 6 months.

You can’t overfeed a breastfed baby. They’re beautifully designed to regulate their own intake. And breastmilk? It changes constantly to match what your baby needs — day, night, growth spurt, or comfort.

Babies reflux. They posset. That doesn’t mean they have a disease — 95% of reflux is normal and doesn’t require treatment.

Feed/play/sleep? Completely unnecessary. This is a routine based on adult convenience, not infant biology.

It’s time to stop applying outdated routines to a biologically wired process.

Support parents. Trust babies.

Two things can be true.

It is with a heavy heart that I let you all know I will be finishing at Crown West Medical in December this year.
This is a practice that trained me as a GP registrar, has supported me in pursuing my interest areas , and has made me feel like a valued member of the team since I first started back in 2018.

It has not been an easy choice to leave.
But….

It is with great excitement that I announce I will be starting my own clinic, Embrace Medical on Crown, in January 2026.
Embrace Medical will allow me to further extend the services I offer in holistic care and perinatal medicine, with peer support and education events, amongst other offerings.

There is a lot of work to be done! I’ll post some updates on this page and .medical

Embrace Medical will welcome new patients. I am also happy to provide continuing care for current patients should they wish to follow. Of course, those that wish to stay at Crown West Medical will continue to get excellent care from my wonderful colleagues.

Tonight we celebrated Winter Solstice - a pause to mark the changing of the seasons.

As a family, we took a picnic, marshmallows and spiced apple juice to the beach. We lit the lanterns we made earlier in the day and sat around a small fire.

We talked about how the trees lose their leaves in winter and rest, preparing for new growth in Spring. At the suggestion of Miss 7, we each thought of one thing we could let go of to make space for growth - my kids really blow me away sometimes!

It got me thinking about the importance of different seasons of our lives. Each season brings different challenges, joys, and areas of growth. I think we sometimes get so lost in the day-to-day that we don’t always take the time to pause and consider what this season of life is asking of us.

Tonight was a welcome pause for me. A time to consider what I need to consciously let go of to allow what I want in life to bloom when the time comes.

The marshmallows were a bonus!
