Title:
Sacred Responsibility: Holding Culture and Space Without Losing Ourselves
I’m thinking about talking about the idea of dual roles, cultural load and Aboriginal ways of preventing burnout - hopefully this will fit in well with the other speakers.
Carlie Schofield – Motherhood Therapist, Coach & Cultural Advocate
Carlie Schofield is a registered counsellor, identity coach, and proud Aboriginal woman specialising in maternal mental health. With a holistic, culturally safe approach, Carlie supports mothers navigating the emotional terrain of early motherhood, including burnout, guilt, anxiety, and identity loss.
Founder of the Reconnect to You program, she combines psychology, naturopathy, and spiritual energetics to help mothers move from overwhelm to empowerment. Carlie’s work is deeply informed by her lived experience with perinatal anxiety, the cultural pressures of being a First Nations mother, and the systemic barriers many women face when seeking support.
Carlie is passionate about building a more compassionate, shame-free narrative around motherhood and mental health—one where women no longer feel they have to “do it all” or “suck it up” to be worthy.
