H.Parsons Funeral Directors

H.Parsons Funeral Directors H.Parsons is your only locally owned and only family operated Funeral Director. Parsons is staffed by an exceptional team of 50 local employees.

Supporting our community for over 130 years

The Parsons family association with the Illawarra began on April 24, 1839 when Matthew and Puah Parsons arrived in Wollongong by horse and dray via Mount Keira Road. Today, Alan Parsons, Funeral Director, Managing Director and Chief Car Washer with Parsons Funerals follows in the business started by his great grandfather over 130 years ago. One of his greatest rewards today is to be joined in the business by his son Anthony, the fifth generation of Parsons Funeral Directors. "The horse and carriage have gone but the one constant we are dedicated to upholding is to remain a local Illawarra family owned and 100 per cent Australian owned and operated company," Alan said. Alan believes that doing this ensures they can continue the family legacy in contributing to and supporting the economy, growth and stability of our beautiful Illawarra.

We were delighted to sponsor another special visit by Lippy the miniature therapy horse, this time to Warrigal Shell Cove Residential Care Home. 🐴 πŸ’™

This marks our third aged care visit, and it was wonderful to see the smiles, laughter, and meaningful moments Lippy brought to residents and staff alike. Our team members Andrea and Sacha joined us on the day, supporting the visit and spending quality time with residents, sharing meaningful conversations along the way.

Supporting initiatives that bring comfort, companionship, and positivity to our community is something we’re incredibly proud of. Thank you to Shell Cove for warmly welcoming us, and to Pony Parties for bringing Lippy along and helping make the day truly unforgettable.

🐴At H. Parsons Funerals, we were delighted to bring some smiles to residents of Warrigal Shell Cove with a visit by "Lippy" the Miniature Therapy Horse earlier this month. 🐴

Browse the album to see the smiles and joy Lippy brought to residents, who shared a pat or cuddle with her as she walked through the centre, visiting communal & private rooms, even riding in the lift.

Learn more about our Miniature Therapy Horse visits initiative on our website https://www.hparsons.com.au/post/bringing-joy-and-connection-proudly-sponsoring-miniature-therapy-horses-visits

We look forward to bringing more joy in 2026 with aged care visits across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven with our partner Adorable Pony Parties. Interested aged care facilities should reach out to our marketing team.

πŸ“Έ Behind the scenes at H. Parsons Funeral Directors πŸ“Έ

Recently, we brought together our Illawarra Funeral Directors and our fleet of hearses for a photoshoot that captured the heart of who we are.

While the vehicles represent professionalism and care in every detail, it is our people who truly define H. Parsons. Behind the scenes, there were plenty of smiles, shared laughs and genuine moments that reflect the strong team culture behind the work we do every day.

These lighter moments sit alongside a deep sense of responsibility, as our caring and compassionate funeral directors continue to support families with warmth, respect and understanding.

Danielle and Julianne, two of our dedicated Funeral Coordinators, recently visited Ryan Park's office to deliver a collection of donated toys from our team and community, contributing to the generous collection of donations already received.

Despite his busy parliamentary commitments, Ryan kindly made time to meet with them and expressed his sincere appreciation for the support. He shared that each year, families send heartfelt messages of thanks after Christmas, a reminder of the meaningful impact these donations have.

All toys and contributions are going to SAHSSI – Supported Accommodation and Homelessness Services Shoalhaven Illawarra.

A sincere thank you to everyone who donated. Your generosity will make a big difference for local children this Christmas. πŸŽ„πŸ©΅

Danielle and Darren, two of our wonderful team members, recently visited the Lifeline South Coast community kitchen to deliver a hamper filled with generously donated items from the community and our staff.

While there, they had the pleasure of meeting Leah, who does an incredible job running the kitchen and supporting the volunteers who make such a meaningful impact in the community.

On some days, the kitchen provides up to 200 meals to people experiencing homelessness, facing disadvantage, or simply needing a meal for their family.

Everyone is welcomed with a smile, a chat, and no judgment.

A big thank you to Leah, Darren, Danielle, and all the incredible volunteers for the amazing work you do, and to everyone who donated so thoughtfully.

Your generosity truly makes a difference in our community. ✨
