What do you think you know about the world?

Research subjects who claimed to be 98% certain about something were WRONG 30% of the time. When they upped the question to "Are you 99.9% certain?", there was still 19% who claimed that 99.9 level of certainty but were actually wrong about the thing.

So be careful with how you assert your views! Maybe consider "If I were wrong about this thing - as well I could be - how would I wish to have claimed it?... Which words would I have chosen... what tone... what space for the other's view?

Not Okay - A Poignant Poem by Jarod K. Anderson πŸ™πŸΌ

I am not okay.
So, in the absence of okay,
what else can I be?
I can be gentle.
I can be unashamed.
I can turn my pain into connection.
I can be a student of stillness.
I can be awake to nature.
I can sharpen my empathy
against the stone of my discomfort.
I am not okay,
but I am many worthy things.

Few people realise that health professionals are no longer allowed to give their honest opinion to their patient. Whilst this has been slightly relaxed, going forward it is best to take this into account when deciding on a course of treatment.

More problems with "anti-depressants"...
(Calling drugs that dull the nervous system's ability to fully feel emotions "anti-depressants" is brilliant marketing, but misleading. But that's another story.)

This story is about how we're creating a post-antibiotic age (when our antibiotics will no longer work as such), and the burgeoning use of "anti-depressants" has now been found to be a big contributor.

But it also mentions statistics showing long-term use of "anti-depressants" results in steep increases in heart disease and all-cause mortality.

'Our stories are not meant for everyone. Hearing them is a privilege, and we should always ask ourselves this before we share: "Who has earned the right to hear my story?" If we have one or two people in our lives who can sit with us and hold space for our shame stories, and love us for our strengths and struggles, we are incredibly lucky. If we have a friend, or small group of friends, or family who embraces our imperfections, vulnerabilities, and power, and fills us with a sense of belonging, we are incredibly lucky.' ~ BrenΓ© Brown in The Gifts of Imperfection

Positive exposure to blue spaces, such as spending time playing at coastal locations or at lakes, during childhood is associated with a greater sense of well-being later in life.
