🐣💛 What’s been happening lately at Serendipity…

Tori has been enjoying some lovely 1:1 time with Saane, spending quality time together before heading off to her physio sessions - building strong connections and supporting her routine.

Over at Day Program, the Easter spirit has well and truly arrived! The crew have been getting creative with Easter crafts, supported by Sarah, with everyone enjoying making their own Easter hats. Brett got involved before his physio session - showing great engagement and enthusiasm. 🎨🐰

To top it all off, the day finished with some baking and decorating cupcakes, bringing everyone together to share in the fun (and the treats!). 🧁

It’s been so lovely seeing everyone involved, engaged, and enjoying a mix of creativity, routine, and connection - with plenty of Easter cheer in the air! 🌈

🍽️💛 Tony did a great job helping finish the dishes, supported by Saane - taking pride in drying and putting them away in his home.

Moments like these build independence, responsibility, and confidence in everyday life skills, while also creating a sense of ownership and belonging within the home. Well done, Tony! 🌈

We also captured some lovely moments of George and Jake enjoying a fun lunch outing with Saane - sharing laughs and enjoying each other’s company. Social outings like this are so important for building friendships, connection, and positive experiences in the community. 💛

🌿💛 Aiden enjoyed a beautiful day out with Saane, making the most of her company with a trip to the park for some time on the swings, followed by a peaceful walk by the water.

Moments like these are so important - fresh air, movement, and the calm of nature all support wellbeing, relaxation, and happiness. It’s lovely to see Aiden enjoying the serenity and simple pleasures of the day. 🌊✨

🌏🗣️ In celebration of Harmony Week last week, our Day Program participants had a great time practicing different languages with Taimani and Lyniana!

Exploring different languages is a fun and meaningful way to learn about other cultures, build understanding, and celebrate diversity. It was wonderful to see everyone getting involved, giving it a go, and sharing plenty of laughs along the way.

Activities like this help promote inclusion, respect, and the message that everyone belongs. 💛

Activities like these are so important for building confidence, encouraging self-expression, and creating a sense of comfort and routine. It’s been lovely to see Koby relaxed, happy, and enjoying her time with us. 🌈

Bowling is such a fun way to stay active, build coordination, and enjoy some friendly competition. It was lovely to see everyone laughing, cheering each other on, and having a great time together. 💛

🧦💙💛 World Down Syndrome Day at Day Program 💛💙🧦

Today our Day Program proudly celebrated World Down Syndrome Day by wearing our colourful socks -
a symbol of inclusion, individuality, and support. These socks aren’t just fun and vibrant, they represent the uniqueness of every individual and help spark conversations about acceptance and understanding.

This year’s theme, “Together Against Loneliness,” reminds us of the importance of meaningful connection, friendship, and ensuring that people with Down syndrome feel included, valued, and supported in their communities. Loneliness can impact wellbeing, and today is about recognising the role we all play in creating environments where everyone belongs.

Our participants wore their socks with pride, knowing they were also contributing to the cause, with purchases supporting awareness and advocacy for people with Down syndrome around the world. It was a day full of colour, smiles, and connection - celebrating not only differences, but the strengths, abilities, and joy that people with Down syndrome bring to our community.

💙💛 World Down Syndrome Day – March 21

Today we recognise World Down Syndrome Day, a global awareness day that celebrates the lives, achievements, and contributions of people with Down syndrome. The date (21/3) symbolises the triplication of the 21st chromosome, which causes Down syndrome, and the day has been officially recognised by the United Nations since 2012.

The 2026 theme is “Together Against Loneliness.” This year highlights how loneliness can be a serious challenge for people with Down syndrome and other intellectual disabilities. Loneliness isn’t just a sad feeling — it can affect health, happiness, and wellbeing. The message behind this theme is that real inclusion, meaningful friendships, and strong community connections are the key to ensuring everyone feels valued and that they belong.

World Down Syndrome Day encourages all of us to reflect on how we can create more inclusive communities — by welcoming others, building friendships, and supporting people with Down syndrome to participate fully in everyday life.

Today we’re celebrating our very special girl, Torah - our Serendipity Support Dog! 🐶💛

21 in dog years and still the best girl around, bringing comfort, smiles, and so much joy to everyone she meets. Torah has a way of making every day brighter just by being her beautiful self.

We hope your day is filled with extra pats, treats, and all the love you deserve (which is a LOT!). 🦴🎈

💛 “I do not live in your workplace. You work in my home.”

This quote has always been an important reminder of what truly matters in disability support. While support workers come into a participant’s home to provide care and assistance, it is first and foremost the participant’s home - their space, their comfort, their choices, and their life.

Today we’re refreshing this message with new photos, but the meaning remains just as powerful as ever. Person-centred support means respecting each individual’s home, routines, preferences, and independence. It means understanding that the people we support are not just participants - they are individuals with their own lives, personalities, and rights.

At Serendipity Support Services, we are proud to support people in a way that honours this principle every single day. Our role is not to take over someone’s home, but to support them to live the life they choose, in the place they feel safest and most comfortable.

Because at the end of the day, it’s their home - and it’s our privilege to be welcomed into it. 🌈💛
