Upper eyelid surgery (blepharoplasty) involves placing incisions within the natural eyelid crease, where scars generally settle very well over time.
These photos show the typical progression of healing:
• Pre-operative with natural skin creasing
• 1 week after surgery immediately following suture removal, when the line is still visible and slightly pink — a normal part of early healing
• 4 weeks after surgery, where the incision has begun to blend into the eyelid crease as the scar continues to mature
Eyelid scars usually soften and fade over several weeks to months. Supportive care — including following post-operative instructions, protecting the area from sun exposure, and allowing the tissues time to mature — all play a role in this process.
Every patient heals differently, but this gives a helpful example of how upper eyelid scars can evolve in the early weeks after surgery.
