Breathing & Ehlers Danlos Syndrome

It was my absolute pleasure to take part in the Australasian EDS echo education series this week highlighting the often overlooked role of breathing and breathing patterns in EDS.

Thanks to Nicole Frost and the ECHO team for putting on a great month of inspiring content 🎉

Happy World Physiotherapy Day 💚🤍💚

Throwback to our very own Director, Mitchell Taylor, presenting at July’s World Bronchiectasis Conference! 👨🏻‍⚕️

This year’s theme is about and addressing through a tailored approach exercise program.

Did you know that respiratory physios can…
📝Prescribe airway clearance techniques to minimise the risk of exacerbations
📈 Reduce symptom burden and risk of fraitly in bronchiectasis through a tailored exercise program

Don’t forget that movement helps move the mucociliary escalator ‼️

Do you prescribe exercise programs along with airway clearance?

More emphasis now than ever on the importance of reducing hospital admissions in people with COPD. An article that outlines the risks of a cardiac event post hospitalisation. 🫁 ❌

“Every healthcare encounter for people with COPD should be seen as a chance to address and mitigate both COPD and any underlying cardiovascular disease, as well as the pathophysiological connections between the two”

Super excited to see all the hard work the bronchiectasis community has put in coming to fruition with Brensocatib being approved in US.

We worked on the phase 3 Aspen trial for Brensocatib for almost 3 years so have seen the positive impact it can have first hand.

Hopefully approval in Australia not too far behind.

It was out of the clinic today for Mitch working with the Connected Health Alliance team spending the day exploring EDS literally from head to toe. Savita Sandhu, Dr Megan Thomas, Samantha Slatem, Romy O., Janet Hunter, Mark Westaway, Tamara Woods, Danielle Stone, Sophie Schneider & Nicole Frost bringing together their knowledge, curiosity and the humility to openly share both what they know and what they don’t know as we seek to improve clinical care of those with hashtag  & other hashtag .

Representing clinical research, medicine, dietetics, lymphatic therapies, osteopathy, speech therapy and physiotherapy (including respiratory and pelvic sub specialties), this team shares a passion for driving the progress our patients need. hashtag
