The Weigelli Centre is an Indigenous, rural, residential Drug and Alcohol rehabilitation facility. We are located on 50 hectares of rural land about 25km from the small town of Cowra in the Central West of NSW. We are about 200km from Canberra and 330km from Sydney. For over 16 years the Weigelli Centre has provided a safe and positive place of healing for Aboriginal people suffering from the harmful effects of Alcohol and Other Drugs. Non-Indigenous people may also apply to come to the Centre. A comprehensive evidence-based programme is offered to clients. This programme is delivered in a safe and culturally appropriate context. There are around 18 clients on-site at one time. 24 / 7 care is provided by 15 staff.

Weigelli Healing on Country 🌿🔥

This week, Weigelli residents and some of our staff were truly blessed to spend time together on an overnight camp — a journey of connection, healing, and culture.

We were very privileged to be welcomed onto the beautiful farm stay generously offered by GM Alley Coe from the Wiradjuri Condobolin Corporation. Our deepest thanks also go to Uncle Jimmy Nolan and Uncle Peter Harris, who joined us and guided the group with their wisdom and spirit.

Residents were welcomed to Country with a powerful Smoking Ceremony, marking the beginning of a truly meaningful experience. Around the fire, we shared beautiful curries cooked in camp ovens, Johnny cakes, and fried scones — food made with love and shared with laughter.

There were yarns, honesty, and healing, with residents opening up, being vulnerable, and finding strength in one another. The fire became a place of reflection, laughter, and truth — a reminder that recovery is not just about sobriety, but about freedom, culture, and connection.

Country, culture, and healing ground us all — reminding us who we are and where we come from. We walk proud, strong, and together, continuing the path our old people laid before us.

Weigelli would like to sincerely thank Craig at Datavoice Communications Cowra - Telstra Partner for your generous donation of 15 mobile phones, each with a $10 start-up credit.

This contribution makes a real difference. Having access to a phone helps the people we support stay connected with family, community, and vital support services. It also means they can be contacted quickly when needed, which is so important for their safety, wellbeing, and recovery journey.

We deeply appreciate their support, kindness and commitment in supporting our community.

WOW what a week!!
Weigelli staff and residents had a fantastic week celebrating 50 years of NAIDOC.

To kick it off we attended the NAIDOC march and family fun day held by Cowra Information and Neighbourhood Centre - CINC, Thursday we went to PCYC and set up a stall for the Yalbilinga Open Day and today residents went on a trip to Forbes to celebrate NAIDOC at Yoorana Gunya Family Healing Centre Aboriginal Corporation.

Thank you to the many services that have put on great events this week. Weigelli clients always have a great time celebrating culture and connection.

We would like to congratulate one of our female staff members Rebecca, who took out the Vocational Student of the Year at the 2025 Orange NSW Regional Training Awards and Rebecca has progressed to the NSW State Awards.
The award highlights an inspiring life turnaround for Rebecca who works at the Weigelli Residential Drug and Alcohol Rehabilitation Centre. Rebecca also continues with her study with a Diploma in Alcohol and Other Drugs and she would like to acknowledge and appreciates all the support she has received from so many that include but not limited to her mother, Weigelli's CEO, staff and Board members, family and friends and TAFE NSW.
