Australian Prostate Cancer

Australian Prostate Cancer Australian Prostate Cancer funds crucial clinical research for treatment, prevention and cure.

Prostate cancer is the most common form of internal cancer in Australia with 1 in 4 men at risk of developing prostate cancer in their lifetime. In 2008 more than 20,750 new cases of prostate cancer were diagnosed in Australia and 3,000 men died from the disease. Each year prostate cancer claims more men’s lives in this country than breast cancer does in women. Australian Prostate Cancer (APC) was established to assist with the funding of vital medical research into the detection and treatment of prostate cancer, as well as preventing the metastatic spread of the disease. APC funds clinical and laboratory based research conducted at the Basil Hetzel Institute for Translational Health Research and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital in South Australia. Australian Prostate Cancer is a Registered Business Name of The Queen Elizabeth Hospital Research Foundation Inc.

💡Prostate cancer is the most common cancer in Aussie men — but do we really notice the signs? Or know when to get tested?

We sat down with Associate Professor Michael O'Callaghan, epidemiologist in Prostate Cancer to cut through the confusion, and explore what men and their families really need to know.

From risk factors and common symptoms, to how to support loved ones, it was a conversation full of insights that made us rethink what we thought we knew.

Knowledge saves lives — and curiosity drives it.

This September, listen, ask, and share what you learn. Every conversation could be the one that changes a life.

💙 One test could change everything — put your health first this September.

Prostate cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer in Australian men, but only 36% of cases are found early, when survival rates are highest. A simple screening test could be the difference between catching it early… or too late.

Jones Radiology is stepping up this month — for every MRI and PSMA PET scan booked, they’re donating $10 to Australian Prostate Cancer.

That means every test you get not only protects your own health, it directly funds research that gives more dads, brothers, sons and mates the chance to live longer, healthier lives. 🌟
