Men’s Spinal Health 🧍‍♂️💼

Sitting all day? Poor posture can lead to pain, stiffness and long-term injury.

If you’re an office worker or spending hours behind a desk, here’s what you need to know 👇

The Problem:
Long periods of sitting place extra pressure on your spine, tighten your hip flexors, weaken your core and glutes, and can irritate the joints in your lower back and neck. Over time, this can lead to:

~ Lower back pain
~ Neck and shoulder tension
~ Headaches
~ Reduced mobility
~ Sciatica and nerve irritation

💡 The Good News:
Small, consistent changes can dramatically improve your spinal health

How TPM Can Help
Our Chiro Dr Megan can assess your posture, identify the underlying cause of your pain, and assist you to keep you moving well ~ both in and out of the office.

MEN: Your spine is built to move. Let’s help it do what it’s designed to do.

World Diabetes Day ~ Let’s Talk Movement + Blood Sugar
World Diabetes Day (14 November) is a global day to raise awareness about diabetes – what it is, how to prevent type 2 where possible, and how to live well if you have it.

FAQ FRIDAY ~
Q ~ Why does movement matter so much for diabetes?

A ~ Movement is one of the most powerful tools for managing diabetes because it directly improves how your body handles glucose. When you exercise, especially with a mix of strength training and aerobic activity, your muscles become more sensitive to insulin. This means your body can move glucose out of your bloodstream more effectively, leading to lower and more stable blood sugar levels.

Regular movement also:
~ Improves insulin resistance, which is a key driver of type 2 diabetes
~ Helps lower HbA1c (your long-term blood sugar marker)
~ Reduces inflammation and supports overall metabolic health
~ Strengthens your heart, which is essential since diabetes increases cardiovascular risk
~ Builds muscle mass, giving your body more “storage space” for glucose
~ Boosts energy, sleep, mental health and daily function, helping you stay consistent

In simple terms:
Every time you move, you’re helping your body manage blood sugar more efficiently. Even short bouts like a 10-minute walk after meals can make a big difference.

This Movember, move for your mind

Exercise is a helpful tool to support your mental health, and it doesn’t have to be complicated.

Find something you enjoy and aim for around 30 minutes a day, five days a week.

If you’re not sure where to start, an accredited exercise professional such as an Exercise Scientist or an Exercise physiologist can help create a safe, structured and evidence-based plan that fits your lifestyle.

This month, we’re reminding everyone how important it is to check in ~ with your mates, your family, and yourself.

In this 🎥 some of our male practitioners share how they start those conversations and keep them real. Because sometimes, the best thing you can do for your health is simply talk.

So take a moment this week to ask someone how they’re really going, and listen to the answer.
A small chat can make a big difference.

Diabetes & Exercise ~ FAQ FRIDAY 🩸

Q ~ Why is exercise important if I have diabetes?

A ~ Exercise is one of the most effective ways to manage diabetes. It:
~ Lowers blood glucose levels by helping your muscles use sugar efficiently.
~ Improves insulin sensitivity — your body responds better to insulin after activity.
~ Supports heart and vascular health, reducing risk of complications.
~ Helps manage weight and body composition.
~ Boosts mental health ~ exercise reduces stress, anxiety, and fatigue.

Think of exercise as medicine ~ it works best when it’s consistent and tailored to you.

Do I need to check with my GP first?
Only If you’re:
~Newly diagnosed with diabetes
~On medications affecting blood sugar
~Experiencing heart, nerve, or foot complications
… it’s wise to get medical clearance first.

💡 TPM approach ~ We collaborate with your GP and care team to tailor your exercise safely.
