Sometimes if we just breathe and take a moment to focus on the now. Notice what's beautiful, great, safe, or working out.

Three things gave me a moment of gratitude:
1. The rain had stopped so I could take my dog out for a wee stretch :)
2. My son beamed a big smile at me before he left for school
3. I have a quiet moment to write this post which made me feel calm & happy

When a horse responds to or mirrors a client's behaviour, it allows the client to notice what is happening within themselves.

What they are feeling or any sensations in the body.

Sometimes we can be disconnected from our emotional experience in life and need support to find our way back to feeling and self-awareness.

This can happen in a positive trusting therapeutic relationship with your counsellor but it can also happen with a horse.

The horse naturally responds to what they pick up from you. A very simple example might be if you are carrying anger the horse may become tense. If you are grounded the horse is likely to settle.

Feelings are connecting us to how we are experiencing life. They allow us to connect to ourselves. They guide us to our needs ❤️ 😊

Sure sometimes they are magnified by the thoughts we think. 🤓 😔😬 But on these occasions you can do a sense check. Is this thought that triggered the feeling true? If not - how would you feel without that thought? mmmm so much better.

Either way you can learn to soothe your uncomfortable feelings by:

1. notice the feeling
2. let it just be (even if you don't like it don't avoid, push down or reject a feeling)
3. simply breath in for 3 and out slowly for 8
4. sit with and breathe with your feeling

It will pass, all things change.
