Following DIEP flap reconstruction, the abdominal wall requires careful rehabilitation. Recovery isn’t just about healing the incision, it’s about gradually restoring strength, stability and overall function in a safe, structured way.

Our DIEP-specific Pilates classes gently support abdominal healing, rebuild deep core and upper body strength, improve posture and breathing, and restore functional movement all within a small, closely supervised group setting.

The focus is guided progression, individual attention and helping you feel confident in your body again, at a pace appropriate for your recovery stage. 💙

Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month 💙

Lymphoedema can affect daily life in ways that aren’t always openly discussed. It may impact comfort, mobility, confidence and overall quality of life.

The risk doesn’t necessarily end when treatment finishes.

Symptoms can include:
🔷 A feeling of heaviness or swelling in the legs
🔷 Tightness or discomfort
🔷 Changes through the lower abdomen, p***c or ge***al region

Lymphoedema is a long-term condition but early identification and appropriate management can make a meaningful difference.

Support may include:
✔️ Education and screening
✔️ Manual lymphatic therapy
✔️ Compression garment prescription
✔️ Individualised exercise therapy

If you’ve noticed any of these symptoms, we can assess, guide and tailor treatment to support you.

Proactive care matters. Early support matters. 💙

Getting back to yoga was a big goal for Giorgia 💙

After undergoing a bilateral DIEP breast reconstruction, returning to yoga initially felt out of reach due to tightness through the abdominal wall. With regular physiotherapy support, including lymphatic massage, soft tissue release, and an individualised home-based exercise program, Giorgia was able to get back to what she loves doing.

A positive functional outcome achieved through structured, ongoing care. 🌸

Ovarian Cancer Awareness Month 💙

Lymphoedema is a common and often under-recognised side effect of cancer treatment.

For people treated for ovarian and other cancers, changes to the lymphatic system can occur following surgery, chemotherapy or radiation, sometimes developing months or even years later.

We support people living with or at risk of lymphoedema through a multidisciplinary approach, including:

🔹 Physiotherapy - supporting lymphatic flow, swelling management, movement, strength and long-term function.

🔹 Massage therapy - gentle, specialised techniques to support swelling, tissue comfort and relaxation.

🔹 Exercise therapy - individualised movement to support circulation, strength, confidence and daily activity.

🔹Compression garments - assessment and prescription of medical-grade garments to support ongoing management.

Our focus is on supporting comfort, function and quality of life, at every stage of recovery.

We asked our patients a question:
“What’s something you didn’t expect, but learnt through your experience?”

Some of our favourite responses touched on many different parts of cancer and recovery - the physical impacts of treatment, the pride in small everyday milestones, and the things people learn along the way that they never anticipated. They also spoke about the value of interaction with care teams and others going through similar experiences and how those connections can shape recovery just as much as the physical side of care. 💙

World Cancer Day - United by Unique 💙

Cancer care does not end when treatment is completed.

For many people, finishing surgery, chemotherapy or radiation is only one part of recovery. Fatigue, pain, stiffness, swelling, nerve symptoms, reduced strength, and changes in confidence with movement are common among people affected by cancer and its treatments.

Oncology physiotherapy is designed to support you after and alongside treatment. With the right guidance, movement can be rebuilt safely, symptoms can be managed, and strength and function can be restored in a structured and supported way.

When physiotherapy, exercise therapy and massage are integrated into recovery, support becomes more personalised, more responsive, and better aligned with what your body needs at each stage. 🌱

Every cancer experience is different. Recovery support should reflect that — care that recognises individual needs while remaining united by the shared goal of living well after cancer. 💙

Sharing our knowledge 💙

We believe that being well informed plays an important role in recovery, ongoing care and confidence with health decisions.

Our blog section, Sharing Our Knowledge, is where we share clear, evidence-based information on common topics that are relevant to many patients, written to be practical, accessible and easy to understand.

Our latest blog explores the role of low level laser therapy in cancer recovery, outlining how it may be used to support tissue healing, pain management, and recovery when clinically appropriate.

Whether you’re navigating your own recovery, supporting someone else, or simply wanting to better understand available treatment options, these resources are designed to help you feel informed and supported.

You can explore all of our blogs on the website under Sharing Our Knowledge.

Chronic pitting oedema in the lower limb can cause heaviness, discomfort and changes in mobility but with the right treatment, symptoms can be managed and improved over time.

Laser therapy and manual massage therapy techniques were used to support the foot and ankle, encourage fluid movement, reduce swelling, and improve tissue softness.

Targeted techniques like these play an important role in management and overall comfort for chronic odema conditions. 💙
