One of our amazing participants had a wonderful time in the kitchen baking delicious jam drops! πŸ‘©β€πŸ³

With all the right PPE β€” hairnet, gloves, and apron β€” they mixed, rolled, and filled each biscuit with care.

We love seeing our participants build confidence and independence through fun, hands-on activities like this. πŸ’ͺ

Today we had a fantastic day out with one of our Community Access clients exploring Brisbane! We started the morning with a delicious visit to the Shingle Inn before taking a stroll across the Victoria Bridge to soak up the city views.

Our next stop was the Queensland Art Gallery and GOMA, where we admired the incredible artwork, watched some interactive videos, and even did a few sketches inspired by the exhibits! βœοΈπŸ–ΌοΈ

We finished the day with a relaxing lunch at South Bank, before hopping back on public transport for the trip home.

After working with this participant for around 12 months, we’ve seen such amazing growth! When they first started with us, they preferred to stick with activities that felt familiar and brought comfort.

Now, they are embracing new experiences β€” even trying their hand at baking 🍰! Watching their confidence and independence grow has been so rewarding.

Swimming can offer a range of therapeutic benefits, including improved muscle movement, reduced joint pressure, better circulation, and increased mobility.

Outings like this are part of how we encourage healthy routines and community access in a way that suits individual goals and abilities.

✨ Founders Day ✨

We kicked off our Founders Day with a heartwarming celebration of 50 years of swara at our Woolloongabba Centre, surrounded by our incredible participants and dedicated support staff.

As the sun set, the celebrations continued at Allan Border Field where we gathered to honour the amazing Moyia & Dorothy O'Brien – affectionately known as the Pink Twins. It was a night full of laughter, memories, and touching speeches from some of our long-standing participants, reflecting on swara's rich 50-year journey.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us – it was a truly memorable day and night!
