Kick off the New Year at Taum’s Fishing Day!

New year, fresh air and a great excuse to get down by the water - sounds like a good start to 2026.

Taum’s Fishing Day is a relaxed, peer-led group for people with disability, their families and supporters. No fishing skills required. Come along, have a laugh, cast a line and enjoy the morning.

Paid opportunity!

The Disability Dialogue are starting a new project called the Feature Dialogue.

It is about sharing ideas and finding ways to make things better for people with disability and their community.

They are looking for parents and carers that support their family member with an intellectual disability under the age of 30 to join their focus group.

The focus groups will:
• meet online up to 5 times over 6 months
• talk about experiences with supports outside the NDIS
• discuss ideas for change

Parent to Parent Sunshine Coast is relocating to a new office mid-December. This move helps us better support families across Queensland as we continue to grow.

Our new address:

5 Daniel Street, Nambour, 4560

What you need to do:
✅ Update your records with our new address
✅ Switch invoices/receipts to email: ndisfinance@p2pqld.org.au (this helps us process claims faster)

Important: Mail sent to our old Woombye address after the move may be delayed or returned. Update your details now to avoid disruptions.

NDIS claim processing won't be affected during the transition.

🌟 Congratulations Payge!

P2P is incredibly proud to celebrate Payge, who is representing Queensland on Inclusion Australia’s Our Voice Committee – a national group dedicated to championing the voices of people with an intellectual disability.

Who is Our Voice Committee?

Our Voice gives advice to the Inclusion Australia board to make sure the voices of people with an intellectual disability are listened to. They work to:

• break down barriers,
• uphold human rights, and
• make sure all Australians with an intellectual disability are included when making big changes.

Our Voice member, Payge said, ‘I want to be a voice for other people with disability and help people with disability have their voices heard. Our Voice has given me the confidence to speak in public and at conferences.’

All Our Voice members are people with an intellectual disability, and self-advocates.

🌻 Gladstone, this is our FINAL Speak Up in the Bush for the year!

Join us for a practical session all about feeling safe, confident, and supported in your community.

At this workshop, you’ll learn:
✨ How to recognise what your senses are telling you
✨ Easy-to-use stress-management tips and exercises
✨ Helpful tools like breathing exercises and sunflower lanyards
✨ Ways to advocate for yourself when things don’t feel right

You’ll also get the chance to co-create a resource for local businesses, helping them better support people with intellectual disability who may be feeling overwhelmed or distressed. Your voice will directly shape a more understanding and accessible Gladstone. 💛

Calling all artists!
The National Centre of Excellence in Intellectual Disability Health is running an online art competition as part of our project to co-design national research priorities.
People over 18 years old with intellectual disability are invited to create artworks that express what health issues are important to them. Artwork can be in any medium and needs to be submitted online.
