Osteoporosis is a when your bones have reduced bone mineral density which leads to a higher risk of fractures and it often develops without symptoms until a fracture occurs, commonly in the hip, spine, or wrist.

Who it affects most:
▶️ Women after menopause
▶️ Older adults (both men and women)
▶️ People with low calcium or vitamin D
▶️ Those who are inactive, smoke, or drink alcohol regularly

If you have been diagnosed with Osteoporosis, our Strong Bones program is evidence based and designed to help you be stronger and improve the health of your bones! 🏋

Client Spotlight 🙌

If you haven’t met her in the gym yet, this is Ronnie. She has been absolutely crushing it lately in the gym 💪

Ronnie first started with us at Connect EP needing to work on her bone health. Ronnie had never been much of a gym goer and is now one of our most consistent gym members and clients 😀

Awesome work Ronnie!

🌿 Aged Care Update – What It Means for You 🌿

The Australian Government is introducing the new Support at Home Program in 2025, which will change how aged care services — including Exercise Physiology — are delivered and funded.

Here’s what you need to know:
✅ You’ll still be able to access Exercise Physiology with Connect Exercise Physiology
✅ We’ll continue to focus on helping you stay strong, independent, and active
✅ We’re aligning our services with the new Aged Care Quality Standards to make sure your care remains safe and high quality

To stay up to date:
💬 Ask your Support Coordinator or Case Manager about the Support at Home changes
📧 Make sure your contact details are current with us so you don’t miss any updates
📅 Talk to your Exercise Physiologist at your next session about how these changes may apply to you

At Connect Exercise Physiology, we’re here to guide you through the changes and keep your health goals on track 💪

💡 Did you know that power (strength + speed) declines faster than strength as we age?

🏋️‍♀️ That means even if you can still lift something heavy, your ability to react quickly — like catching yourself if you trip, getting out of a chair fast, or climbing stairs with ease — can fade much sooner.

👉Training for power (think: quick sit-to-stands, medicine ball throws, or fast step-ups) helps keep your body responsive, mobile, and independent as the years go on.

Bottom line: Don’t just train to be strong… train to be quick too! ⚡

Osteoarthritis education 😀

This week Thalia finishes her student placement with us, and she delivered a presentation on Osteoarthritis. In this session she took us through the most recent evidence on:

✅ What is Osteoarthritis

✅ How exercise can help improve pain and function.

✅ How much and what type of exercise to do!

✅ What other available treatments there are to support people living with osteoarthritis. #

We would like to say a big thank you to Thalia for helping out with all our group classes and individual sessions and wish you the best for your future!!
