We could try to explain what training here is like.

Or we could just let a client say it better than we ever could.

Worth listening to this one with the sound on.

We’re looking at bringing back a full HYROX simulation.

We’ve been running HYROX Lite sessions regularly, but we’re curious whether there’s interest in taking on the full workout again in a masterclass-style session.

Keen? Or a hard pass? 😅

This is something I’ve struggled with, but have been working on a lot lately. The disappointment of not hitting a PB every time I go for a run or train.

I get close, and I used to beat myself up for not quite getting there.

Lately that’s shifted. Even if I don’t hit the PB, I’m still proud. Proud I got close. Proud I cracked a top 5 or 10. Proud I still got out there on a busy day.

Smaller wins are still wins.

Just a reminder that we’re still taking suggestions for our upcoming charity Sundays.

We’re looking to support local organisations and raise money for causes in our community.

Drop a comment or tag below if there’s a local organisation you think we should help out.

We’ve had a few people mention they didn’t realise where we were, or even that we were here at all.

It’s actually pretty simple. Head past the lights in Woori Yallock, turn into the service lane on the left, and you’ll find us right next to Yarra Valley Paints and District Hire & Sales.

We love the community we’ve got going on here. Different PT sessions and classes, all training in the same space and building friendships along the way.

Taking the p**s out of ourselves (and each other) is a big part of it. A bit of fun and laughter can make a tough 45-minute workout feel way more manageable 😅

Training in general is good, but if you want to get the most out of it, your training needs to match what you’re actually training for.

Training for a game of footy isn’t going to help you run a marathon, and marathon-style training won’t do much for speed or power on the field. That’s why the individual and their goals always need to be taken into account.

If you need speed, your training should include speed and power work. If you want to run longer, you need to build endurance. Generic training gives generic results.

We’ve already seen some solid improvements on our 1RM board this year, so it felt like a good time to pause and acknowledge them.

The top 5 increases in 1RM for January were:
1. Adele improved her squat by 8.9kg
2. Zac improved his deads by 7.6kg
3. Greg improved his deads by 5.8kg
4. Sarah improved her squat (4.8kg), deads (4.1kg) and bench (3.5kg)
5. Carly improved her squat by 3.1kg

Plenty of strong progress happening across the board, and this is just one way we get to recognise it.

Ever been for a walk with a 4-year-old?

You head out planning a few laps of the oval, and it turns into zig-zags and chasing him down 😂

A conversation we have a lot with people starting weight training is that they notice the rest breaks are longer than in some other sessions.

There’s a reason for this, and we’ll keep it simple. You need enough rest between sets so you can hit the next set with maximum effort.

If every set is meant to be as close to your maximum as possible, then the rest between sets needs to reflect that.

Sundays are for family time. No deadlines, no worrying about getting training in or tracking anything.

Just getting out and about with Jaxon and the doggos.

Happy Sunday ☀️

🦁 WEDNESDAY CHALLENGE CLASS: A DOCUMENTARY

And here we observe the S&T STEPS challenge class in its natural habitat.

The rules are simple.
Quickest single round wins. Not overall. Not average. One round. One chance to embarrass yourself in public.

Round 1 begins and the herd moves with confidence that will not survive the night.

Adele sets an early warning shot with 10:24.
Sarah follows with 11:16, controlled and stubborn.
Charlie posts 12:20, looking like she’s just “feeling it out” (a lie).
Carly clocks 13:19, and Monique 13:31, both still smiling like they haven’t seen what’s coming.

Then Round 2 arrives, and the ecosystem shifts.

Charlie suddenly remembers she’s Charlie and drops a ridiculous 9:18.
Adele responds with 9:32, calm, efficient, mildly terrifying.
And Carly claws it back with 11:12 to take third. A proper turnaround.

Final standings (quickest single round):
🥇 Charlie 9:18
🥈 Adele 9:32
🥉 Carly 11:12

Huge efforts from everyone who jumped in, and special mention to Kym, who made the correct decision to simply not participate, and stay in bed.

Nature is beautiful. 😅
