About
I am qualified yoga teacher (RYTA350) and reiki practitioner. I began practicing yoga when I was pregnant with my first child 12 years ago. As the years went on I fell in love with the practice. My interest and desire to learn more continued to developed with the help of some wonderful teachers, until I was drawn to study yoga teacher training. This deepened my knowledge of the ancient practice. With the understanding that each student is a complete system encompassing mind, body and spirit. I believe that yoga is for everybody, the tools we learn through our yoga practice create an excellent foundation. Leading to greater self-esteem, confidence and body awareness while improving our ability to relax and cope with life’s challenges.
My study and practice of yoga has lead me to discover the wisdom of Ayurveda. Ayurveda translates as life knowledge or science. Ayurveda originated in India and deals with the concepts of health and wellness, looking at both prevention and cure. Being a holistic medicine it recognises the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual aspects of being human and understands that all of these aspects require balance for an individual to feel optimal health and well being.
Ayurveda looks at our connection to nature both internal and external observing that we have everything we need to be healthy within us. It acknowledges that our lifestyle choices and the foods we consume can throw us out of balance and if left untreated, can lead to disease.
I am excited to be studying a Diploma in Ayurvedic lifestyle consultancy. This eastern medicine is absolutely relevant today in our western culture. I look forward to combining Ayurveda with my yoga teaching once I’m a qualified practitioner.
