Donned my lab coat for experiments today. I wanted to see how long the spirit of the orient incense sticks burn for and how long the Om incense sticks burn for.
Incense was burned in the same spot indoors. The spirit of the orient sticks burn for right on an hour. Their scent isn't overpowering, but you do know it's burning and you'll find the scent will make its way through the house into other rooms. I found the scent stayed for a day. After the stick finished.
The Om incense sticks burn for an hour and 14 minutes, which surprised me, given they are smaller. What I did note with the om incense sticks is that their scent will last while being burnt and you'll pick up the scent slightly if you walk into the room later.
Lastly, I'll include the Traditional incense powder Co with their incense powders. I usually only use a small pinch of these and find that they'll burn for a few minutes and their scent will stay within a room. Best heaped up into a pyramid as I noted they burn a little slower. The more you burn the stronger the scent, so it comes down to how much you want it to linger with the powders. Naturally the more you use, the longer it burns for and if you use a chacoal tab with it you'll get a burn time as long as your putting more on as the charcoal burns. The scent doesn't remain as long as the spirit of the orient, but because it's powder you can experiment easily with and blend different powders together.
So there you have my conclusions on how long the different forms of incense I keep in stock burn for, and how they leave their scent behind afterwards if you were as curious as I was.
I'm still searching for a favourite with the Om incense, but I will say I'm a fan of Dragon's blood in the powders and Ishtar in the Spirit of the orient range.
