Chelsie and I are desperately in need of a new used car. They are extremely expensive for what we need. We are currently planning for a family and servicing our current car that has done us so well for so long considering that it’s 25 years old. There is no way we can maintain all of this and save for a new car. So, we need your help, we have set up this Gofundme that explains a bit more of our circumstances. We know times are incredibly hard for everyone right now so please only consider donating if you absolutely can. If you are not able to, please share our story as we would like to continue to shine a light on just how expensive transport is for people with disabilities. We’ve never done anything like this before and we both feel extremely uncomfortable asking for help but we really don’t have many options left so please bare with us! Thanks x

This is my 300th post on Instagram! And I thought I’d introduce myself again to some of you who may be new! My name is Jarrod, I’m a disability rights activist (if you can’t tell by my feed). ’I’m a proud bis*xual q***r disabled man. I grew up and lived in Naarm for most of my life and I moved to Darkenjung in late 2017 with my beautiful wife. I work on Awabakal for a disability peer organization where I am a project manager for 2 projects (with support from some amazing people).

On Instagram I often talk about community and social structures, the good and the bad. I hold governments to account and ask a lot of questions. I try to keep my content intersectional. Recently I’ve posted a lot about the importance of changing the date and hopefully contributed to amplifying First Nations voices. Because 1, it’s the right thing to do and 2, it’s supporting First Nations people with disabilities. Being anti racist is a disability issue.

I did a lot of advocacy around Covid the last two years. Asking more from the public, calling out eugenics, and spreading numbers of deaths of disabled people.

I also share my community and disabled joy. Disabled people, especially activists are seen as aggressive and combative. Society can’t stand angry disabled people but they hate seeing happy disabled more. Both are important and both are required. I’m s*x positive, body positive and fat positive (before Lizzo made it cool). I consider myself a feminist but you should speak to the women in my life as I feel like I can and should always do more.

I’m a gigantic music fan and I was the number one progressive houseDJ in Melbourne on a popular music website called ReverbNation (back when Instagram and Facebook were just twinkles in Mark Zucs eyes). These days I’m more of a Kae Tempest, Beyoncé, and Mary Lambert fan rather than Tiesto but I don’t mind creative dance music like Faithless, Tami T and Fatboy slim

If you like what I do here, you can buy me a drink, coffee, Fat Slim tickets (he’s touring around my birthday, just saying) you can use the QR code In the second photo.

So glad to have you stop by and thanks for reading this long ass post!

I just spent 2 hours in a room with other disabled people and allies to talk about how to prepare for Covid. Why is it disabled people have to spend public holidays doing the Prime Minister’s Job?
