🌿 October is Mental Health Month 🌿

At Yackandandah Health, we believe that looking after your mental health is just as important as caring for your physical health. 💚

This month, we’re encouraging our community to take time to check in — with yourself, with a friend, or with a colleague. A simple conversation can make a big difference.

Let’s continue breaking the stigma around mental health by promoting compassion, understanding, and open dialogue.

Remember — it’s okay to not be okay. Support is available, and reaching out is a sign of strength.

If you or someone you know is struggling, please speak to your GP or reach out to services such as:
📞 Lifeline: 13 11 14
📞 Beyond Blue: 1300 22 4636
📞 Kids Helpline: 1800 55 1800

Together, let’s make mental health a priority — today and every day. 💚

Ask R U OK? Any Day because life happens every day.

Thursday 11 September is R U OK?Day but we know that whether it’s a friend, family member, partner, or colleague , the people around us go through life’s ups and downs every day. That’s why we want everyone to feel confident to check in with the people they care about and Ask R U OK? Any Day.

Research found that those who are regularly asked, 'are you OK?' report increased feelings of wellbeing, and we've learned that a third of Australians say they've been asking others more often over the past year . That means many of us are already showing up for others in meaningful ways, but when it comes to conversations about how we’re really going, some people are less confident than others.

It’s natural to feel a little hesitant, but the good news is nine in ten Australians report feeling grateful, supported and cared for when someone genuinely asks them if they're OK - and that’s a good reason to give it a go. You might even be having these conversations already without realising.

If you need tips to build your confidence, we’re here to help with plenty of free resources to help you feel more confident to check in with someone you care about. You’ve got this, and we’ve got your back.

Ask R U OK? Any Day of the year because a conversation could change a life.

🩹 Wound Awareness Week | 1st – 7th September 🩹

Did you know that wounds that don’t heal properly can lead to serious health complications?
Early and effective wound care makes a huge difference in recovery, comfort, and long-term health.

Here are some key reminders for wound care:
✔️ Keep wounds clean and protected
✔️ Seek professional help for wounds that aren’t healing
✔️ Don’t ignore minor cuts or ulcers – they can quickly become major problems
✔️ Chronic conditions like diabetes can slow healing, so regular wound checks are essential

At Yackandandah Health Medical Centre, our experienced Practice Nurse Claire has extensive expertise in wound management. She is available 4 days a week to provide high-quality care for wounds of all kinds. The compassion and detail she brings to her care ensures patients receive the very best outcomes.

💙 Healing starts with the right support. Don’t leave wounds untreated.
