Our Physiotherapist Marcus Edwardes has been busy again.
Recently travelling with The Australian Rollers Basketball team on their European campaign at the Rollstuhl basketball Nations Cup in Germany – one of Europe’s premier wheelchair basketball tournaments.

During August, the Rollers faced some of the continent’s strongest lineups, including Great Britain, the Netherlands, Poland and a European All-Star team. They then headed to Varese, Italy, for a five-game series against the Italian national team.

The tour was a crucial step towards November’s Asia Oceania Zone Championships - the qualification event for the 2026 IWBF World Cup and a major opportunity to shape the team’s path to LA 2028.

In summary, the Rollers finished 2nd in the Nations Cup in Germany losing to arch rivals Great Britain. Then they won the international series against Italy 3-2. Finishing with 7 wins and 3 losses over the 2 weeks.

Good luck in November... Go The Rollers! 🏀

Thanks to Marcus for some great images of the tournaments.

Meeting of the minds! Today at Raymond Laurie Sports Centre we had a very heartwarming scene reminiscent of the ABC TV show 'Old Peoples home for 4 year olds'.
While Sarah and Steve ran an activities morning for some lucky kids who have started their School Holidays, the timing was right for the kids to meet and chat with some of our fabulous Still Standing Class participants.
During the impromptu Q&A session the kids heard all about Roberts sporting days as a young man, answered & asked all sorts of questions & had a laugh.
How great is community!

Be sure to ask and listen. Not just today but everyday.

Today is World Su***de Prevention Day.

It’s a day to honour the memories of those we’ve lost to su***de and to offer support to those facing difficult times and those living with the grief of losing someone.

The message of ‘Changing the Narrative on Su***de’ encourages us to change how we talk about su***de. To replace silence and stigma for empathy, compassion and action.

We all have a role to play in staying connected, showing up for those we care about and helping those struggling access the support they need.

Show the people around you that you’re there for them by asking 'are you OK?'. Because a conversation could change a life.
