Let's let go of some of that worry and stress

Take this moment to inhale through the nose for 4 seconds.

Hold for 4 seconds.

Exhale through the mouth for 4 seconds.

Hold for 4 seconds.

And repeat.

Our breath can be our super power. How we use our breath through every day life and particularly during birth can either help calm, reduce stress, even energise us, or it can increase feelings of panic, fear, overwhelm and even affect our health.

Sometimes, we don't need all the answers.
Sometimes taking just 60 seconds to stop and breathe can make all the difference.

Remember to breathe.

Can you imagine?

If every Mama received the support, love and encouragement they deserved to feel empowered and nutured as they embarked on their birth journey?
It would literally change the world!

Research is already showing us that Mamas who reccieve continuality of care from their support team and those that feel listened to and respected are having better outcomes during birth and into the fourth trimester.

It's about time that this model of care became the norm and not the exception.

STOP! 🛑 Before you birth on your back... Think about this... ⬇️

1️⃣ It's the most exhausting position to birth, because both Mama and Baby have to work against gravity pushing up an incline through the birth canal.
Plus, it increases the risk of tearing!

2️⃣ It has been shown to decrease your pelvis by up to 20%. That's 1/5 of your pelvis size that you are losing for Baby to pass through!
Baby gets 'stuck' and you will hear " Baby is too big. You need a c-section now!"

3️⃣ Due to major blood vessels located posterior to the uterus, lying on your back can constrict and limit the flow of blood and oxygen to Baby.
Baby is already exhausted and is now receiving limited amounts of blood and oxygen - the very thing we need to live! And now you will possibly hear "Baby's heart rate is dropping. baby is distressed. You are failing to progress. You need XYZ intervention now!"

When you think about why many women are told they are failing to progress, baby is distressed, baby is too big, or whatever other 'reason' labour isn't flowing as it should and many interventions are needed, is it any wonder when we have forced Mama's to give birth in positions that do not support birth??

Mama's, there is a better way!

Studies have shown when you follow your own birthing wisdom (and common sense) by using upright positions and movement during labour and birth, not only does it reduce the amount of issues and complications that you may experience lying down, but the risk of perineal tears and damaged pelvic floors are lessened, labours may be quicker and the number of interventions are greatly reduced because you are working WITH your body and your baby.

Remember, your body is designed and knows how to birth; we just need to listen to it.

A woman at birth is at once her most powerful, and most vulnerable.

But any woman who has birthed unhindered understands that we are stronger than we know.

Tips For Labouring At Home🤰

If you go into early labour during the day, take it easy. It could be a long night ahead 😉.

Here’s what gets the oxytocin flowing (one of the hormones that helps your uterus to contract and speeds up labour):

➡️ Watch a funny movie

➡️ Go for a walk at the beach

➡️ Cuddle up with your pets

➡️ Snuggle with your partner

➡️ Take a nap

➡️ Listen to Surge of The Sea or Rainbow Mist Mp3 (self- hypnosis tracks)

➡️ Do whatever makes you happy!

If you watch a movie , ask your partner to spin the couch around, sit on your birth ball and:

During Surges: move your hips side to side, forward and back, in figures in 8 or in circles and use Surge Breathing.

Between Surges: Lean forward and rest and use your Relaxation Breathing.

Or to get things moving, gently bounce up and down to help soften your cervix.
