Michelle yesterday spoke at Boral Cement's Safety Conference in Mittagong and it was genuinely uplifting to see how aligned their team already is with the message we share.

She talked through "Alex’s Story" and it was clear the room really connected with the reminder that safety isn’t just about the big, high-risk jobs — the simple, everyday tasks need the same level of care because they can have life-changing consequences too.

Thanks to Shaun Cahill from Boral for inviting Michelle to tell her story and sharing that this really resonated with the group. It was great to see a team so committed to looking out for each other. Moments like this remind us exactly why we keep having these conversations — because they make a real difference.

As part of National Safety Month I was invited to share my story with the crews from Rokon at their Craigieburn project.
Whilst at the exact same time Alan Newey was asked to visit another Rokon project in Mambourin on the same day.

𝙄 𝙡𝙤𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙥𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙖𝙘𝙝. 𝙔𝙤𝙪 𝙝𝙖𝙫𝙚 𝙩𝙬𝙤 𝙥𝙧𝙤𝙟𝙚𝙘𝙩𝙨 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙘𝙤𝙢𝙥𝙖𝙣𝙮, 𝙡𝙞𝙨𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙬𝙤 𝙙𝙞𝙛𝙛𝙚𝙧𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙨𝙩𝙤𝙧𝙞𝙚𝙨 𝙗𝙪𝙩 𝙬𝙞𝙩𝙝 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙨𝙖𝙢𝙚 𝙢𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙖𝙜𝙚𝙨!

Many of these guys and girls know each other, no doubt when they cross paths they will talk about the 'Safety Speakers' that came to site and compare notes.

Pizza at the end of the session was a bonus, and allowed me to have "Informal" chats with the crews.

For the CNB Safe Speakers and Team, the months leading up to October - and October itself - are our busiest time of the year.

This year, with Safe Work Australia's theme being "𝗦𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗷𝗼𝗯, 𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗮𝘆" our speakers traveled across the countryside to share their emotive safety messages with everyone.

To every organisation that partnered with CNB Safe this month to deliver the life-changing message of workplace safety...𝗪𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗸 𝗬𝗼𝘂!

Yesterday, I visited Blacktown City Council to share my story with the Rooty Hill Works depot team.

It was a bit daunting as over 200 employees were milling around as I pulled into the car park.

A lovely, fresh 6:30am start, with bacon and egg rolls for breakfast, meant everyone was there not only to hear my story but to have a free breakky too.

I love doing these sessions because they not only give people the opportunity to see and hear how a serious workplace injury can change lives but also allows them to ask me questions.

I believe this is important as many people have never had the opportunity to ask a wheelchair user or someone who has experienced an injury, a question. For example, "How do you go to the toilet?" "Can you drive a car? How?"

People need to know the real impact that a serious injury can have on their lives and those of their families!

What a month! Safety month is always a busy time of year for me, but I wanted to share one of the highlights of my October so far.

Diane Young invited me to visit AGL Loy Yang Mine.
Over 5 separate site visits I managed to speak to all the crews during their training days.

I have to say that I enjoyed being back on a Coal Mine, it brought back many memories from my time in the industry.

But more importantly it's great to be part of a workplace that provides regular training for their teams. Three times a year Diane organises for each crew to spend a day discussing and learning new information. Safety always is a focus and it was really good to not only share my story, but to have engaging conversations with people about what safety means to them.

Thanks Di and to everyone that took the time to share their thoughts with me.
