Celebrated annually on March 23rd is National Eucalypt Day!
Eucalypts are vital for Australia's wildlife, providing food, water, shelter, and safety to species such as koalas and parrot species. With growing threats to these trees, it's essential to protect them and their irreplaceable role in our ecosystem. After all, home is where the gum is! 🌿🐨
At Strong Minds Psychology, some of our favourite moments are spent in our nearby State and National Parks, renowned for their tall Mountain Ash trees that support local wildlife. It's wonderful to take a moment of mindfulness to listen to the birds and the wind through the trees.
Do you have a favourite area that you spend time in nature to wind down?

For us, equality and being vocal in our lives about the rights of women are important every day.
International women’s day allows people around the world to bring a coherent message towards gender equality, and may the flooding of these messages lead to greater change from those that have the power to make decisions about women’s safety, pay, access, education, and voices.

Setting Events are situations that cause a behaviour to become more likely to occur.
For example, before Jack was asked to complete his maths homework, he felt quite tired due to a lack of sleep and was told he was not allowed to play his favourite video game. As a result, Jack shouted and swore at his parents. In this scenario, having a lack of sleep would be considered the 'setting event'.
If Jack had been provided with a longer break or if he had taken a short nap before being told to complete his homework, he might have been more willing to complete his work task.
By understanding what these 'settings events' are, we can address them directly and reduce the chances of a concerning behaviour from happening.
If you have any questions about 'setting events', feel free to let us know or contact your psychologist or allied health professional.
If you or someone you know needs Positive Behaviour Support services, our team is here to assist. Contact us on 0359671438 or email smpteam@strongminds.net.au

Strong Minds Psychology provides psychological assessment and intervention services to the Yarra Valley and Outer East suburbs of Melbourne, as well as West Gippsland.
Our clinics can be found within the communities of Yarra Junction and Warragul, and we also are able to provide mobile visits in schools, homes, kindergartens, and aged care facilities within the surrounding suburbs.
The SMP team are here to help the community to build strong mental health, develop skills, and learn in a positive and supported environment. We do this by working individually with children, adolescents, and adults, as well as providing assistance to parents and carers, small groups, educators, and the wider community.
We are a teaching clinic, which means we are able to assist provisional psychologists to complete their training, and can also offer reduced cost services for the community. We work closely as a team, so that we can provide a positive experience and can support you: our SMP family.
The SMP team are able to provide support privately, or via funding streams such as: Medicare, NDIS, WorkCover, TAC, and Victims of Crime. We are registered NDIS providers, so we can provide therapy, assessment, and Behaviour Support Plans for participants with a variety of funding packages.
