Just days ago, one of Gurriny Yealamuckaโs vehicles โ one that plays a vital role in transporting our young children to school each day โ was struck by a projectile which completely shattered the back window.
Thankfully, no one was injured, but the vehicle is now out of action while repairs take place.
Our FACEES team runs an incredibly important service that ensures Yarrabahโs children get to school safely and on time.
These vehicles are not just transport โ they are part of the wider effort to keep our kids learning, connected, and supported. Every delay or damage impacts the whole community.
Over recent months, Gurriny Yealamucka has been gently reinforcing safety messages across the community, and weโre grateful the number of rock-throwing incidents has decreased thanks to the positive support of parents, caregivers, and families.
However, this recent incident is a timely reminder that throwing rocks or objects at ours, or other vehicles is not acceptable.
It can cause serious harm to passengers, drivers, or bystanders โ and damages the very services here to help our wider community.
We kindly ask parents to speak with their children about the dangers and consequences of this behaviour, and to encourage pride and respect for the community services that support us all.
Letโs continue to come together to ensure these acts stop completely, so our FACEES team can keep doing what they do best โ getting our children to school safely, every day. ๐
