Pelvic girdle pain in pregnancy 🤰
- reported to affect between 4-80% of pregnant women
- can present as groin pain, p***c symphysis pain, low back pain, leg/ thigh pain and often women think they have sciatica
- there is no proven link between pain and laxity in joints- it’s not because your pelvis is unstable
- the biggest predictor for cure is that it will/ can be cured
- majority of cases resolve as soon as your baby is born
Support garments/ belts, when used correctly, can be so so helpful and keep women up and moving whilst managing their pain.
Biggest tips
💓 Get garments on early, they work best preventively rather than reactively. Don’t wait for the pain to be really bad to put them on
💓 Get assessed by a physio to find out exactly where your pelvis needs some support with taping/ belts/ garments
💓 Sit down to dress
💓 Keep knees together when moving
Get treatment early! We want to keep you moving and going to get through your whole pregnancy and actually enjoy it 🫶🫶
