I know this is hot topic right now but it should be hot topic all of the time.

With our industry progressing so far in terms of trick difficulty and variety and with the rise of movement style blending (example: contortion/gymnastics in dance/aerial fitness) I think we’re loosing sight of what it means to truly be a beginner.

It’s dangerous because when attempting tricks/movements that the body isn’t ready for our risk of injury goes up as does our risk of not being able to exit from the movement safely.

It’s not inclusive because genuine beginners see/try these things and are left feeling like they can’t do it, it’s too hard to even imagine doing and these fitness options aren’t for them - which is not true!

Creating syllabus progression aimed at complete beginners is my passion and the mission behind my studio

With the right instructors you can have an injury free fitness journey in dance/pole/aerials/yoga and you can start with no experience, strength, coordination or flexibility.

Of course your journey will take longer if you’re starting day one from the couch but with the right support - anything is possible.

As both a yoga teacher and aerial coach I understand the importance of breath - the overlooked component in achieving graceful flow.
I provide a guide on how to use breath to stabilize the core, engage muscles, and reduce anxiety or tension while performing aerial movements in my first blog post up on my studio’s website 💗
