Counseling and Wellness Centre, BRAC University The Counseling Unit of Brac University provides mental health services for the students, faculty members,staff inside BracU to promote sound mental health.

Life is full of opportunities and potentialities. Every individual can rejoice the beauty of life and has the capacity to overcome life challenges. At times life is difficult, often these situations are easily managed and sometimes cannot. Talking with a professional counselor can help to deal with such difficulties and explore potentialities. With this awareness, BRAC University Counseling Unit offers mental health services for its students, faculty members and staff. The mission of the Counseling Unit is to offer nonbiased mental health services and support to assist in overcoming life’s challenges and moving towards positive changes.

BRAC University’s Counseling and Wellness Centre organized the Mental Health Awareness Campaign 2025 on 5 November 2025 (Wednesday) in observance of World Mental Health Day.

The event was open for the students, faculty members, and administrative staff of BRACU.

The campaign began with a welcome speech by Shami Suhrid, Senior Counselor and Coordinator of the Counseling and Wellness Centre at BRAC University, followed by remarks from Ms. Tahsina Rahman, Joint Director of Student Life, on the significance of mental well-being. The session continued with an address by the Chief Guest, Professor Arshad Mahmud Chowdhury, PhD, Honorable Pro Vice-Chancellor of BRAC University, on the significance of self-care and its profound impact on overall well-being, encompassing physical, mental, social, and spiritual dimensions.

The campaign featured interactive activities such as the Creative Play Lab, Empathy Studio, Calm Corner, Gratitude Station, Self-Growth Garden, Kahoot, and received strong participation and positive feedback.

The associate partners of the event were the BRAC University Leadership Development Forum (BULDF) and the BRAC University Cultural Club (BUCuC).

The Counseling and Wellness Centre, Student Life of BRAC University warmly invites you to the Mental Health Awareness Campaign 2025 in observance of World Mental Health Day, to be held on Wednesday, 5 November 2025, from 11:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Multipurpose Hall, BRAC University.

Participants can engage in interactive activities such as the Creative Play Lab, Empathy Studio, Calm Corner, Gratitude Station, and Designing Self-Growth Garden, all designed to promote reflection, connection, and well-being.

All students, faculty members, and administrative staff of BRAC University are encouraged to join in fostering a compassionate and mentally healthy campus community.

As part of World Mental Health Day, the Counseling and Wellness Centre of BRAC University is hosting a special Peer Support Program titled “You Are Not Alone” on Monday, October 27, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Club Room Number 01. The program is designed to foster empathy, connection, and emotional well-being within the university community. It will feature a range of engaging activities, including short movie clips that highlight resilience and hope, anonymous letters and story readings where voices can be heard without names, and interactive games that bring moments of joy and connection.

Throughout the event, Peer Ambassadors will be present to share insights into their roles and responsibilities, offering students a valuable opportunity to meet them, understand their work, and learn how to seek peer support when needed. The program is open to all students. Together, the event reaffirms the message that no one is ever truly alone, understanding, and compassion is always within reach.

Wellness Program titled "Let My Anxiety Talk To Me"

From August 10th to 20th, we held space for something truly special. Over ten tender days, across two intimate time slots, 20 participants came together to slow down, breathe, and gently listen to the voice of anxiety, not to silence it, but to understand it.
Through mindful movement, expressive art and writing, clay work, and guided visualizations, we invited each person to explore what their anxiety might be trying to say. What unfolded was deeply moving; tears, laughter, quiet reflection, and heartfelt connection.
Participants touched emotions long held beneath the surface: unspoken grief, old fears, self-doubt, and in that same space, discovered strength, compassion, and clarity. With the steady presence of our warm and skilled facilitators, everyone was supported to go at their own pace, in their own way.
The journey ended in a beautiful certification ceremony, full of hugs, gratitude, and a shared sense of something meaningful. Many shared that it was the first time they had truly allowed themselves to meet their anxiety with openness and that they are walking away feeling lighter, more connected, and no longer alone in their experience.

We’re so grateful to each person who joined us. And yes, we’ve heard the requests for more. This is just the beginning.

Wellness Programs titled “Let My Anxiety Talk to Me”

Anxiety doesn’t have to be our enemy. What if, instead of pushing it away, we pause... and listen?

The Counseling and Wellness Centre of BRAC University invites you to join a powerful journey inward — one that helps you understand your anxious thoughts not as something to fight, but something to hear. “Let My Anxiety Talk to Me”- A transformative experiential program to reconnect with yourself.

This immersive, hands-on course is designed to help an individual to recognize, understand, and embrace the anxiety with kindness — not fear. Through mindfulness practices, reflective exercises, interactive discussions, and body-based techniques, this journey creates a safe and compassionate space where the inner world of an individual is not judged — but deeply honored.

Together, the idea will be explored that anxiety isn't just noise or discomfort — it’s communication. It may be pointing toward unmet needs, deeper emotions, or hidden strengths inside an individual.

What the participants gain from this program:
-A safe environment to explore anxiety and recognize its patterns
-Mindfulness practices to help staying grounded in the present
-A new perspective: Anxiety as a guide, not a threat
-Self-compassion techniques to silence harsh self-criticism
-Practical strategies to manage anxiety in daily life
-The ability to turn anxious moments into opportunities for clarity and confidence
