Scientists may have found a cure for type 1 diabetes!

For the first time, a person with type 1 diabetes is making insulin again — thanks to gene-edited cells.

In a world-first medical breakthrough, scientists have successfully enabled a man with type 1 diabetes to produce his own insulin after receiving a gene-edited cell transplant—without the need for immune-suppressing drugs.

Using CRISPR, researchers modified donor islet cells to avoid immune detection by editing three key genes. Two edits made the cells "invisible" to the immune system, while the third boosted CD47, a protein that acts as a “don’t attack me” signal to immune cells. The cells were then injected into the patient’s forearm, where they began producing insulin within weeks.

Twelve weeks later, the cells continue functioning with no signs of rejection or complications—a dramatic improvement over past cell transplant attempts, which required lifelong immunosuppressants and carried serious risks. While the patient still needs some insulin support, it's significantly reduced. More importantly, this is the first real proof that gene-edited cells can safely restore insulin production in a person with type 1 diabetes.

The next step is expanding the study, but this case marks a potentially revolutionary shift in how we treat one of the most common chronic diseases worldwide.

✅ ইনসুলিন ভায়াল থেকে সিরিঞ্জে তোলার সঠিক পদ্ধতি:

🧪 প্রয়োজনীয় জিনিস:

ইনসুলিন ভায়াল, ইনসুলিন সিরিঞ্জ, অ্যালকোহল প্যাড/কটন ও স্পিরিট, পরিচ্ছন্ন হাত।

🔟 ধাপ: ধাপে ধাপে পদ্ধতি-

ধাপ কাজ ব্যাখ্যাঃ

1️⃣ হাত ধুয়ে নিন পরিষ্কার ও জীবাণুমুক্ত রাখতে।
2️⃣ ভায়াল হালকা গুলিয়ে নিন ঝাঁকাবেন না – শুধু ভেতরে ইনসুলিন ভালভাবে মিশাতে।
3️⃣ ভায়ালের কিপে রাবার অ্যালকোহল দিয়ে মুছুন জীবাণুমুক্ত করার জন্য।
4️⃣ সিরিঞ্জে আপনার প্রয়োজনীয় ডোজের সমান বাতাস টানুন।
ধরুন 10 ইউনিট ইনসুলিন নেবেন → সিরিঞ্জে 10 ইউনিট বাতাস নিন
5️⃣ ভায়ালের কিপে সিরিঞ্জ ঢুকিয়ে বাতাস ঢুকিয়ে দিন এতে ভায়ালের ভেতর চাপ ঠিক থাকবে।
6️⃣ ভায়ালসহ সিরিঞ্জ উল্টে দিন (ভায়াল উপরে) যেন তরল ইনসুলিন সিরিঞ্জে ঢুকতে পারে।
7️⃣ প্রয়োজনমতো ইউনিট পর্যন্ত ইনসুলিন টানুন সিরিঞ্জে সাবধানে তুলুন, বুদবুদ না থাকাই ভালো।
8️⃣ সিরিঞ্জ বের করে নিন তারপর বাতাসের বুদবুদ থাকলে সামান্য চাপ দিয়ে বের করুন।
9️⃣ ইনজেকশন দিন নির্ধারিত স্থানে (পেট, বাহু, উরু) সাইট পাল্টান নিয়মিত।
🔟 ভায়াল ফ্রিজে রাখবেন না যদি এটি খোলা হয় ৪ সপ্তাহের বেশি আগে বেশি সময় পেরিয়ে গেলে ফেলে দিন।

⚠️ ব্যবহারের পর ব্যবহৃত ভায়াল/কার্টিজ ফ্রিজে রাখা যাবে না কেন?

প্রতিবার ফ্রিজ থেকে বের করে সিরিঞ্জ দিয়ে ইনজেকশন নিলে বাহ্যিক গরম ও ঠান্ডা বারবার পরিবর্তনে ইনসুলিনের গঠন নষ্ট হয় (denaturation, crystallization)।

এটি ইনসুলিনের কার্যকারিতা কমিয়ে দেয় এবং সুগার নিয়ন্ত্রণ নষ্ট হয়।
